  • Full circle. JHovs journey.

Been a long time since my last post on here...long while.

I've def had my travels of changing jobs, divorce and married again(the best), had another son and grew up some.

One thing I didn't do was lift...coming back to my roots so to speak. Been training for about 5 months and made some changes (will post pics soon). Right now I'm ready to change it up to gear up on my strenght and thickness. I'm looking to do a show I'm the future either BB, physique or PL. Right now I'm just looking to put on some size.

I will be using Brandon Lilly's cube method.

Ill post more info later with my lifts as I haven't tested 1 Rep maxs.

    Currently at
    5'10 184lbs

Pic is 4 month difference I think.

Came back because quite honestly some of the best support and advice I've gotten was from here 6 years ago. I know folks have left but I look forward for your guys help.

    Hope you enjoy.

I remember your name and I think your avatar? Regardless, welcome back!

Not many use the Cube here. I am pretty certain I will be implementing it after my next meet so I look forward to following along.

    Have you used it before?

Haven't done it but gonna get it a go.

        Full circle. JHovs journey.

Just got finished doing my 3 Rep Me

Not really impressed, doing more DB and higher reps haven't really helped my strength. Hence why I'm switching over...

Need to get my numbers up before I hit the cube.

        Squat 255x3---280.47 / Goal 360
        BP 245x3---269.47 / Goal 315
        Dead 305x2* grip---324.47 /goal 450

Much room for improvement...but have my sights set.

Deadlift Reps Day 2 Wave 1

            Deadlift 1" deficit
            Worked up to 1x8x70%(225)

            4" block pull 3x3x80%(255)

            Olympic squat 3x8x50%(135)

            GHR 4X10
            Back raises 2x25

            Added Seated calf raises 3x12x45
            Seated DB curl 20x12/25x12/30x12

*Felt good pulling, did them in some better shoes(flat) and used more of a sumo stance focusing on lower back strength for awhile. Def where I need to focus on for maximizing my pull.

Taking tomorrow off. Gonna go for a 2 on/1 off/2 on approach for each week.

            Till later

@rob definitely! I saw some online but didn't print them. How did you like the cube the first time?

@slide thanks. Honestly feels real good to be back. I've been a journeyman around the web the past year reading everything. Hope your situation worked out for you...best thing for me. Found someone that makes me happy and supports me in it all.

I read your original post...I think a lot of people go through some point in their life where things have to be put on the back burner.

The first time I competed was in 95, then I did a show in 96, thinking I'd be competing on an annual basis...then school got hard, graduated, got a real job, got married, kids, etc...basically life happened and my bodybuilding career went way back in my priority list. I think I hit my nadir in 04 when I tipped the scales at 194. I took a pic of myself and said what the fck happened? It took me about 6 years to get back into the groove and get back into shape, and I returned to competing in 2010.

Sorry for the soap opera post, but I can somewhat relate to your return.

I'm glad to see you came back to training. I truly believe my time off and me hitting that bottom made me realize what can happen if you lose track of goals, and I don't ever want to return to that state.
