• KGF's Get Stupid Strong Journal

Hey all. I am currently using the Cube method and am very much enjoying it. I trained a year straight using something along the lines of the Bulgarian method for squatting. I squatted 6-7x/week. Gained about 100 pounds on my squat. The reason I stopped was that I felt I needed a little more structure in my program (hah, program...).

My first powerlifting competition was in November. I'm in Canada, so we use kg's up here. I competed in the 105kb (232lbs) Open weight class by the way. I got 205/145/290. Here is the vid:

My second meet was Canadian Nationals in March. I did really well in this meet, except I lost my balance after locking out a 300kg deadlift and didn't get it which I was incredibly pissed off about. My totals for Nationals were 220/157.5/290, which was good for third place. Vid of Nationals:

My old program had me squatting everyday, and I'd rotate bench/ohp/deadlifts, and go through each of those every week. Anyways, I hope 1 or 2 people follows along with me, haha. I highly respect the amount of strong people there are on this message board. Later.

Yesterday, did a bunch of easier bodybuilding type movements with bands, blast straps. Also got a rep PR for OHP 185x8

Today no footy.

Deficit deadlifts (conventional) 135x5, 225x5, 315x3, 405x3, 530x2,6
Was afraid to go on for my first set because I may have pooped myself if I hadn't stopped.

Pause Squats: 135x5, 225x5, 315x3, 335x3,3

That was it, kept it short.

Today was my secondary bench day. Cube doesn't call for one, but I do really well benching 2x/week and I haven't felt like the Cube offers a crazy amount of bench volume. Yes, I could add more volume on bench day, but I'd prefer to both add volume on bench day and add another day of bench and back work.

Bench: 45x20, 135x5, 225x5, 270x6,6,6,7
Pullups: 8,8,8,8
CGBP: 185x8,8, 195x8,8
Hammer Strength Rows: 90x15, 180x15, 230x12, 270x10
DB Flyes: 40x15,15,15.

All back exercises were annoying my elbow today which was annoying as hell.
