  • Logging my quest for size

    After lurking around here for a long time I finally decided to make a log.* Hoping to get some advice from other members to help me reach my goals.
    *
    I’ll try to keep this short.* Started lifting at 18, had no clue of what a decent program looked like or what a decent nutrition plan looked like.* Went from 140lbs to 180lbs over about 12-18 months.* I then quit lifting and continued to eat like I was lifting and packed on the fat big time.* Fast forward to spring 2009.* I put in a pool at my house and finally realized just how fat I had become.* I was then about 235lbs at 5’6” and decided I had to make some changes.* Now at 27 I am about 195 and pretty close to being as strong as I ever have but still not as lean as I want to be.* Currently doing a DCish routine (I won’t call it DC since it isn’t 100%) so we will just say I’m working out and trying to beat the log book everytime.*

    Nutrition is where I think I fail the most.* Currently doing IF with my feeding window from 1:30pm to 9:30pm with my workouts around 6:00pm.* I do really good (at least I think) mon-thurs but on the weekends I end up eating out a lot and my macros go to shit.* Also my wife cooks dinner through the week so kinda have to stay with options she likes as well.* Open to all the advice/meal suggestions I can get here.* Or if you think IF sucks let me know that too.* Hope to work with Skip one day but just can’t swing it right now.*

    Short term goal is to see 10-12% BF, once I get there I want to try to add mass while staying pretty lean year round.* A lot easier said than done so far.

    No lifting today but did get in 2 cardio sessions. Did 40 mins fasted on stationary bike then 30 mins on elliptical later in the day. I try to keep hr around 135 for both sessions.

    Macros for the day ended at 2890 cals with 353p/203c/68f

            Not really. She has a great metabolism and gets away with eating anything anytime. We both love Mexican and Italian food which is pretty much all carbs and fats.

              Reverse grip curls - 70x24RP, 40x10
              Single leg calf raises - +135x12, +135x10

              Smith sissy hacks - 135x10, 135x10, 95x20

              I just saw Scott's video on sissy hacks the other day and decided to swap those out for front squats. I completely under estimated this excercise but was a nice change.

                Not sure if it's the humidity or all the crap in the air but felt like I was running out of breath earlier than I should have been.

                    Did a 40 min fasted cardio session early. Tried to up the hr to about 150 for the last 10 mins in hopes of burning a few more cals. I try not to stress scale weight too much day by day but I'm trending up at the moment.

                    Cable curls - 145x23RP, 90x10, 45x10
                    Wrist curls - 145x25RP
                    Standing calf raises - 295x15, 295x15
                    SLDL - 145x15, 145x15
                    Leg exts - 190x12, 190x12, 140x20

                    I hope to get in my 3rd day later in the week. We had a death on my wife's side of the family this week so I'm sure we will be with the family a few days this week. I planned to try to get in a quick one today but I am already feeling pretty sore so will prob just wait it out.

                    Dropped some of my carbs in favor of more fat hoping to slow my weight gain down a bit. Have no clue if it will change anything but time will tell.

                        Kind of frustrated at the end of this workout. Got a good pump and beat the log book but still aren't seeing the changes I want to see in the mirror. Starting to realize I don't think I'm going to look the way I want this summer. Really tempted to say f-it and eat shit for a month try to get my strength back in time for a push/pull meet in August. Probably just try to stay on track though because I don't think I would be ready for a meet in 6 weeks anyway.
