  • 19 years......

So after 19 years (and a cervical fusion) I've decided to step on stage one more time (yes, that is me in my profile pic, back in 1993). As I have been prepping for this "comeback" I ask myself why? Why are you doing all this?

Some of it is to see if I can do it. It's been a looong time since I've prepped for a show and hell up until last year this time even seriously worked out or cared about what I stuffed in my face. I was a fat mess ( and my 5 year old asked me at one point when I was having a baby). Almost exactly 1 year ago I weighed 269 pounds. We've worked hard these last 12 months and have gotten me down to 210.

I think the other reason (Other than Abby calling me out last year) is to show my kids that hard work pays off. I don't want them to quit when things get tough or hard ( both do dance and my oldest is on a gymnastics team and as she progresses they push her to be her best and she gets frustrated) you shouldn't quit or give up.

The last reason is the most obvious, I want and need to be healthy! I'm 44 and to be 269 pounds at 5'8" was a heart attack or stroke waiting to happen. I want to watch them grow up and all that kind of stuff.

Anyway. I'll check back from time to time with updates for anyone interested in following. The show is in October.

Great work getting back into it. Did you notice people treated you a lot differently the fatter you got?

Can't say I paid much attention to it. I'm sure they did, hell I would have. I'd buy bigger clothes and try to hide my size as best I could, especially to myself. If I'm being honest my pants size should have been a 44 (squeezed into a 42) and shirts were XXL. I just bought some 36 pants and L and XL shirts depending on how they are made.

We haven't decided yet. I'm guessing once we peal away a few more layers of me we will have a better idea where I might end up.

It's been almost two months since I updated this post and things continue to move along (slowly at times it seems!). I've officially lost 70 pounds so far (feels very good to say that). Weight is at 199 (not sure about bf, we will be checking that this week or next I think). Dropped another pants size as well (bought 34's and most likely needed to get 32's, told my kids I bought skinny jeans...they were terrified that I really did ).

These last 10 pounds have been brutal and made me stop and think why.....why the hell are you doing this (and remind me that I'm not 20 anymore)? Then my wife told me to stop being a baby and get on the treadmill or whatever else I was supposed to be doing.

Decided to ramp things up and shoot for August 25th and if things aren't coming together then do the October show. Loose skin is the biggest problem right now and it's VERY frustrating.

                        That's my update for now.
