  • Adam v2.1

My last journal was deleted when I was given a 3 month vacation from the board...

Graduated from the fire academy yesterday. It was a long 18 weeks mainly because I worked 80hrs a week on average between nursing and the academy. Lost 25lbs while there. Significantly leaner but also lost quite a bit of muscle. Surprisingly I am not as weak as I thought I would be. It should come back fast anyway.

First shift is tomorrow night as a pipeman. First real day back at the gym is Monday.

Congrats on graduating from the fire dept bruddah... looking forward to the new journal. What are your goals training-wise? Jacked and tan, or pl stuff?

Congratulations on graduating from the academy, Adam. Thats great news and yet another accomplishment. In our community, they have an open house event every summer at the firehouse/police station, so we take our daughter there. She loves the fire trucks...and the station Capt gave us a tour and they really had a beautiful facility, including a small, but equipped weight room.

Congrats Adam, you're already a hero in my book. You do something I admire but not sure I could do myself. I read your post on FB and it was a hard reminder when I went to the Marine Corps. Ball last night and saw the video comparing 9/11 and PEarl Harbor. I'm rambling but good luck getting back into it, I'm sure it'll come back quick with your good eating at the firehouse.

Thanks man. I don't have any specific goals other than to get back to where I was before the academy started. I was working with Skip prior and looking to do a show to cross off my bucket list but we changed things up a ton during the academy. While our new plan worked very well and helped me at the academy a lot I was barely in the gym and quite honestly missed it as well as being on here. After I get to where I was which I don't think will take too long I'll decide what I want to do. But I need to compete in something...

Thanks man. As one of the new guys it's my job to give the tours and talk to visitors, etc. Kind of funny. So far I really like it. I think it's the closest thing to being back in the Corps in both job description, work environment and camaraderie.

We have 6 stations and each has a gym although some are pathetic. But I really couldn't lift how I want at any of them. Being the new guy and all I have other things I should be doing.

I'm no hero man. Heroes don't come home. You know that. But thank you very much. I saw the Commandant's message and it was a good one. I hope you enjoyed your first Marine Corps Birthday. We celebrate our beginning like no one else I have come across. Maybe it has something to do with us being the most arrogant people around lol. I don't know, ask Slide haha.

                11/7

A good first day back full bore. I've been getting in consistently for 2-3 weeks now but just knocking off rust. Muscular endurance is terrible as expected and I was weak of course but oh well.

First shift went well yesterday. Nothing crazy. Kept to myself and did my station work, studied my map book, looked at the engine, etc. The Raven/Steelers game was on and they were all watching it while I was in the kitchen,

"Hey kid, get the fuck in here and watch the game. You don't need to sit in the dark."

                I walked in...

"Sit anywhere you want, just not in a recliner."

Nothing but recliners in the room...

                Made me laugh.

Overtraining should be one of the lowest concerns. You should focus on optimal training.

                          11/8

A few calls during the night but nothing crazy so I was able to sleep pretty much. Cardio this morning for 20 minutes. Some errands to do today but in a lazy mood. I have the next 4 days off for the first time in months.
