  • Bodybuilding, Powerlifting, Strongman... oh my.

Since I'm nearly completely healed from a few surgeries this past year, I'm going for the iron game trifecta : a win (or top 3 finish) in a bodybuilding contest, a powerlifting meet, and a Strongman competition in the same calender year (An idea inspired at least partially by Coach DDG).

I've competed, although not very well, in all three before so none will be completely new.

The tentative schedule is as follows:

    May 21st 2011 - INBA America's Gateway Bodybuilding Championships

    June 11th - ESA 30th Anniversary Push/Pull Powerlifting Meet

Early October - deciding between a couple meets, but will only do one.

December - NAS Hope for the Holidays Strongman Competition

Well first up is bodybuilding, I'm down to about 190lbs for the contest that is now only 3 weeks away. Conditioning is not at an all-time best, but it should be good enough for me to hold my own.

Rumor has it that David Curcuru will be entering this show, possibly in the same open class as myself, so I'll have to be good if I hope to beat him

It is unlikely that you will. He is an enigmatic, mysterious figure much like a weightlifting Kaiser Soze. According to irongame legend, he considers much of the internet and message boards to be sophomoric drivel that is a waste of his intellectual lifting prowess. However, like Bigfoot or The Loch Ness monster, he occasionally makes a quick, often frightful appearance and pops up to scream motivation to a fortunate lifter. Like many urban legends, most people aren't convinced that he really exists. However, I, for one, believe.

Sure, why not? I'll throw a few pics. in here, maybe even a couple videos. All will be tasteful, of course.

As far as background, I don't think anyone wants that since every single person on this board has already read my old journals multiple times. I'm pretty sure they're all stickies

Just joking - What did you want to know?

I've been lifting nearly 20 years. I've competed in about 20 bb contests, a half dozen or so powerlifting meets, and half of one Strongman contest (blew my knee out and could not finish it, but still accumulated enough points to finish in last place.)

Just seems like an interesting feat to accomplish. My interest is piqued.

Coach DDG sounds like the Continuum Transfunctioner.......

I now have confirmation from a reliable source that Natural bodybuilding superstar in the making, Saint Louis weightlifting legend, and reverse hack squat champion, David Curcuru IS entering this bb contest.

I did an extra cardio session tonight in preparation.

Schmoove, did you decide which music you will be flexing to at the contest?

Last I checked it was between sun glasses at night and something by Duran Duran.

If reverse hack squat world champion david curcuru does in fact have the balls to go toe to toe with you on a posing stage, my vote is Duran Duran.

Just wait until Mr. Curcuru sees your vacuum pose..... he'll shit his pants in fear.

ALL ABOARD THE SCHMOOVE TRAIN !!!!!!!!!!!!!

DDG - I am apologizing to you right now, but Duran Duran won't be in the mix this time. I'm saving that for the show I turn pro at (Also, see my TIG journal for more details)

Dave (DAC) Curcuru - After seeing this video below, I'm certain you will be filled with fear and will likely drop out of the INBA America's Gateway Bodybuilding Championships. Also, is it wrong that I already called my mom and told her I won the contest?
