Its hard to say. If it were me I would say tough shit i didnt go and you got $100 from me. I'd say get the rest from the other ppl who cancelled. But thats just me.

yeah, he said they weren't making the others pay because they canceled with a couple days notice while I let them think I was coming until the last minute. I asked him if I had canceled a couple days before, would they of scratched the trip? And he said yes....which is total BS. They would have still gone and picked up the slack. It was too late for him to get money back.

This has happened to me as well. I feel you did the right thing in telling them to keep the orginal $100 depost. But what he should have done was collect the rest of the $$$ a day or so before. Now he wants to pin it on you. He should have new the trip was going to end up like this when 8 people already dropped out.

I would leave it at the $100 you gave him already and explain your side to him. If he doesn't like it too damn bad!!

If i was your friend,the one who booked the trip, I would be really really mad-I,d definetly be pissed at you--and the loss of the money--however--I would not demand that you pay the difference--thats the risk he took--I would definatly hope that you'd kick in something extra--but I wouldnt ask for it.

something similar happened to me... You did the right thing about the $100.. but the other $250 is wrong, I wouldn't pay him, maybe come up with a deal, like paying another $100 max, but never $250...

Its only money-Is this friend worth 270? You decide. Yea IMO you screwed him but so did 8 others. I would look at how much he was trying to charge every one and see if he was making any cash. $1500 sounds like a ton to me-SHit better be catered and be there for a week for 1500.
