  • Question on Carb levels

You know , maybe Im missing something here.....

Ive been talking to 3 or 4 guys that are in contest prep, using a guy in this area that trains several national contenders.
They all are over 235lbs up to 265lbs, all about 10%BF . Their trainer has them on 100-130g of carbs/day 12 weeks out...
isnt that excessivley low? Im at 240g/day and feel totally depleted @ 255lbs. 10%BF

I know pretty much what Im doing, but this kind of crap makes you start second guesing yourself. The trainer wants to work with me, but theres no way Im going to go to 100carbs 12 weeks out without a very good explaination. I guess I just dont trust his opinion or technique. It goes against every thing I ever learn from J. Parillo. Am I too old school, or am I right? Im sticking to my game plan unless one of you GURU's can change my mind, and I am very open minded.

These guys I am talking about think Im getting in over my head shooting for NATIONAL QUALIFIER., which doesnt help my head and weaken ego at this time either.... dieting sux!

He's probably neglecting to tell you (until he gets your $) that his guys do periodic carb-ups (even if not on a grand scale).

Come on Sweaty, the answer is right there in your own words.

Some of my guys are on miniscule carbs at 12 weeks out and others are around 300g at 3 weeks out. It just isn't the same for everyone, bro.

this guy trains Marcus Haley, Von Tran and some others, but uses the same technique on all of them. Everyone he trains is on way low carbs. Most of them do get very lean though.

Maybe I'll just cut my carbs to 130G/day and find out what the F happens to me....
I can only imagine major muscle atrophy....Im scared.

Alright, alright, not 300g ( I was making a point) but I do have guys that are on 200-250 during the last 3-4 weeks - one guy right now, actually.

Sweat, you aren't making much sense when you say that you are going to drop carbs after you already stated that you are depleted. wtf?? If you are continuing to lean down as I think you said you are, stay with your plan and do NOT worry or even consider what he or anyone else is doing. That is suicide, bro.

Shoot me your diet and let me know how things have been going as far as your drops in weight. I will give you my opinions if you are interested. Please don't feel obligated - I am only offering because you are second guessing yourself.

I say if you are making head way and still eating that amount of carbs then you are doing something right and dont change it. the other guys might not be leaning out as fast as you so the lower carbs are a must.

Stick to your plan. well stick to you plan after talking to slip LOL

Me I like the low carbs I dont like eating them anyway.

SM, relax man. It's the depletion talking. Low carbs screw around with your perspective and your judgment. Don't believe what you think of yourself in that state. Beleive me, I know. Depletion distorts your perspective to hell.
