Coffee can be good while dieting, provided you drink it black..... And you don't drink too much of it, as it will dehydrate you...

Coffie is the only thing that keeps me going some days. At least 1 cup in the morning for me.

                  Caffiene is a diuretic....

1 cup of coffee has the antioxidant power of 3 oranges....so says Dr. William Campbell Douglass, MD.

Also...the American Diabetes Assoc. says that by drinking 3-5 cups of coffee you improve you insulin sensitivity...supposedly due to the magnesium content.

I am not a coffee drinker...but I have been thinking of getting started.

You guys drink it black?? That is hardcore.

I hear ya bro...I have been thinking of making a thread about stevia...beats the living hell out of sugar for sweetness and doesn't alter blood sugar and insulin levels like table sugar.

Stevia is an herb that has been used for several decades in Japan...coincidentally Japan has the lowest rate of diabetes in civilized countries.

I have a couple of cookbooks about stevia.....can't remember where I have put them though.

Stevia is is the best sugar substitute on the market hands down. It doesn't contain saccrine (sp?) or aspartame. It is all natural and 400 times sweeter than sugar.

You are speaking the truth bro.

If any of you bro's go looking for it when you find it the stuff appears to be EXTREMELY expensive. I think I paid around 100 bucks for a pound of it...I can't honestly remember though.

The thing is you use an very, very small amount to sweeten things up. Like GetnBigr wrote, it is 400 times sweeter than sugar.

And , just a FYI....I believe EAS uses stevia in some of their powders....
