Flu Shot

Well it looks like I have the immune system of a 3 year old girl. I'm constantly getting sick over the winter and it looks like shit just hit the fan early. I'm now walking around with a huge lymph node on my neck the size of a golfball...yippee!!
I don't want to take any chances this winter so I'm thinking of getting the flu shot. Was wondering if anyone else gets them yearly as I've never got one before.

First question I would ask, is why do you have the immune system of a 3 year old girl? Are you supplementing your diet with proper nutritional supps? Very seldom do I ever get more than a small cold...if anything at all..Before you look into getting a flu shot, look into boosting your immune system..

The flu vaccine is only for a specific strain of what they consider to be the most wide spread flu. There are so many strains, that a flu shot may or may not protect you against all the other strains...
Im 46, have never had one and would never consider getting one...Stick with prevention, because the shot is not the cure!

Really need to. Have asthma. If I get a cold, it goes to my head first, then right to the ol' lungies. It is a show stopper.

i wouldnt rely on that vaccine. it will make you feel like crap when you get it and you might get the flu anyway.. wouldnt that be something.

I do not use the "flu vaccines" either....if you keep your nutritional status optimized and get plenty of rest you most likely will not get the flu.

Sleep is very important, I seem to get a slight cold very often when I don't sleep enough.

Shit out of luck this year anyway my friends...no flu vaccine is available.
I took one last year and didn't get the flu but I did get 2.5 weeks of a terrible case of bronchitis.
High protein diets with adequate rest and vitamins with extra C, E, Zinc and L-Glutamine will help keep you pretty healthy.

Have you got Allergies or Asthma?

Thanks for the reply guys. Here in Canada the flu shot is free but I think I'll stay away from it this year. I usually get sick 3-4 times during the winter. I take my multi, vit.c, e,etc and even garlic tabs but I still can't sweat getting sick.

I DON'T get sick anymore and at some point will post some threads on the mind/body connection and ways that you can help yourself stay well. I have had one LIGHT cold that lasted about two days in going on 6 years.

Good post Iron Addict....look at all the garbage that is in the Flu vaccine, lol.

The big problem is that the "experts" try to guess which strain of the flu is going to emerge. They guessed wrong a few years ago....there is something like 300 strains of "flu" if memory serves correct.

And...of all the garbage in the vaccine...look at the mercury content and especially the aluminum. Aluminum is predominantly stored in the brain and may be the underlying cause of alzhiemers.
Also...pepto bismol is loaded with aluminum....and I *believe* tums and rolaids are also, but don't quote me on that.

30,000 people die in the U.S. of influenza related sickness or RSV, a respiartory virus. The flu vaccine marketed here in the U.S. is a Purified Surface Antigen vaccine. There is are no microorganisms in the vaccine. Vaccines are tested at three levels...the companies Quality group, the distributor, and before marketed by the FDA. Any microbial contamination will lead to the rejection of the lot...hence this years fiasco.

From the above posts I can feel your concerns, but I also sense a lot of hysteria that isn't really founded in any facts. Every drug has a potential to cause some side effects......but the flu vaccine isn't going to do any more damage than that can of beer we might drink, the tap water from your sink, or a can of tuna's slight potential to harm you. It's funny that we on a bodybuiding forum, whom inject products from a black market with no regs...hell we even make our own stuff at home, are worried about a controlled drug manufactured with the highest standards in the world that just might save your kids or grandparents life if their one of the unlucky 30,000. I'll step off my soapbox now....
