  • Deficit Deadlift Help

Do you guys use a belt when doing deficit deadlifts? I use a belt for my regular pulls, but I feel like it might be difficult to get down into a good starting position for deficits with a belt on.

I've been doing 5/3/1 and usually deadlift well on the 5 and 3 weeks, but on the 1 week I really struggle to even get the weight off the floor. That's why I'm interested in working some deficit deads into my deadlift day.

How deep you going? I just stand on 1 or 2 plates, belt dosent bother me at all. But then again I do have some good cushion there.

Your belt is too low. Otherwise you just have to suck it up and get down there. It's uncomfortable but just gotta push through it.

My training has become more powerlifting influenced. Competing in powerlifting isn't really a goal of mine, but I feel like it's time to ditch the touch-and-go style deadlifts and lifting straps from my more bodybuilding influenced days.

Try your belt a little loosed and just under the pecs.
