  • Over the ear headphones

After joining LA fitness I have had enough of overhearing the 'brah' conversations mixed in with seniors discussing depends, and kinds slamming weights. When you mix in the shitty pop music, it is drivin me insane and I need my own music. But.......

I have a big damn head (7 5/8 or 7 3/4 hat) and odd ears. Ear buds are uncomfortable as hell for me, and never stay in worth a shit. I prefer over the ear (think the ones that go over the top of the head) headphones. Does anyone here have a reccomendation for a brand and/or model of wireless headphones for the gym?

I have wired Ferrari edition Beats, but I despise wires getting snagged on shit.

Why don't you get the Wireless beats. I hate over the ear, because I sweat so much.

One word. Bose. Best $250 (for Blue tooth) you'll ever spend.

i use the ear buds that came with iphones and i just tuck the wire underneath my shirt and they've never popped out or gotten in the way. maybe you could give that a shot if you don't want to shell out the extra bucks?

I don't mind spending the cash at all. I just was curious who had spend the cash, and on what product. Considering I'll be ordering em off ebay or amazon (fuck the local best buy), I just want reccomendations before deciding which ones to pick up.

IMO, Beats are a scam. You're paying a shit ton of money for poor quality and the "Dre" on the label.

Like I said - Bose. That's the only name you need to know if you want quality audio.

Spend time on any audiophile forum and bose and beats are typically lumped together in a similar category. The "you can do much better for the money" category. Bose, like beats are overpriced for what they are.

To the OP. What's your budget, and what type of music do you listen to most? Knowing that would make it easier to recommend something.

That said a good set of IEM's with properly fitting tips should not fall out. Or better yet some comply foam tips. I run my cable under my shirt and into my pocket and never have an issue.

Or you can step up into some customs. Perfect fit, can't fall out, and amazing sound quality.

I can't wait till the full size headphone /fashion accessory craze dies out. Shit is crazy lol.

I'm a Bose whore, so there's that. I have just about everything you can get from Bose. But I've also had Beats. Not sure how Bose can be lumped in with them. Beats are truly atrocious.

My daughter is an audio snob - so I'm used to hearing the knocks on Bose. She rails against Bose until we get on the plane and she wants to borrow dad's noise canceling earphones.

I used to use some Sony's that were meant for running with a thin band that goes over the head, but they were discontinued a few years ago. SOOOONNNYYY WHHHHYYY!!!

Since then I've tried about 10 different pairs and these: Philips ActionFit Sports Earhook Headphones

have so far been the best. I don't like in-ear either since they fall out (I sweat ungodly like). However these guys seem to work just fine.

                    Good luck!

I just have awkward ear holes, and can sweat pretty damn good too.

Corded is not an option for this purchase. Yes I can tuck the cord, but am not wanting to do so anymore.

The budget is about 275 or less. And ebay prices count.

I think it is a generational thing. BOSE was kind of the Beats of their time, in terms of overpaying for a name. They target a different market, than BEATS, but the fact remains the price, quality of parts, and the overall sound quality compared to other products in that segment, tend to stick lump them into that category.

I am however of the mindset if you enjoy the sound, than stick with it. That is what truly matters. My dad was always into bose as well, growing up. We always had Bose home theater stuff, etc. Always sounded good to my child ears..heh

I have listened to both Bose and Beats. Given the choice, I prefer the Bose sound.

Why did I get the Beats then? Because they came off the back of a truck in Baghdad for 65 bucks.

One thing to keep in mind is there is "over the ears" and "On the ears" so you need to pick between that. Over the ears tend to be bulkier than on the ears.

                            Few options.

These are just over your budget but might be worth extending for if you.

Everything I have read about these says they are VERY good. These might be the front runner for me if I didn't wanna go above budget.

Logitech UE9000. These might also be up for consideration against the above depending on type of music you listen to. They have more bass from what I have read.

This would be an example of an "On ear" and a good choice.

Nice suggestions here. While I do see your point of over ears being bulkier, that doesn't bother me at all. I kind of enjoy the muffeling or elimination of outside noise.
