  • Any Experience With Calorimetric Devices Like BodyGem

Does anyone have any experience in using BodyGem or something similar for determining resting metabolic rate?

These measure respiratory gases and according to this study http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/16837422, they produce repeatable (reliable) readings.

Trying to figure out a protocol for determining my current metabolic condition at any point in time and thought one of these might be useful (?).

I had it measured "professionally" several times and I think it's useless. I would rather spend my money on food.

Why do you consider it useless? Did you based your diet around the reading and fail to make progress?

        Because Skip said so.

Also because I had it done in conjunction with hydrostatic weighing and my body fat decreased, my lean body mass increased, but my RMR didn't change. Totally incongruous.
