Watched it tonight and was entertained but ... barely. Am I the only one? The best part was Branch falling off the horse.

A few notes:

I didn't like how they played Phil to be a premadonna.

Why Kai lives in the ghetto is beyond me.

Ben is delusional to think only 2 people in the Olympia are better than him.

Wolfe was delusional to think he could ever act.

Where they filmed Phil running is relatively close to my house.

I was there the night they brought all of those chinese people into Armbrust Gym (I had just left).

Grandma and Rolly are ... kinda weird.

I really don't like the arrogance and pompous attitude of Ben. He just really rubs me the wrong way. Granted I dont know Phil like you do Skip, he has guest posed at two shows i competed in and i thought he was a genuine cool dude. I know he was being paid to be a good sport, but it seemed like it went beyond the check and really really enjoyed interacting with us novices. I didn't for once get the feeling he was the guy the portrayed in the video. Wolfe scene made me LOL.

Well Im with you skip Ive watched the movie a couple of times and I came up with the same conclusion of Kai "why in the hell do you live in the ghetto?"!!! Now far as an artist perspective of Kai is why is he using shit paint for his works of art! The one thing i also had to ask is why did they not go more into Hide's life they could have brought in a new element that could have been really good! At least better than the Victor segment of the film. OH and dont bash on the Grandma Rolly love triangle!! He's got to get it from somewhere!

A bit obligatory, yes.

It wasn't "bad" as I can't say I wasn't entertained. The problem is that I found myself watching and thinking to myself (no shit), "this is what would have happened if I had had my way 20 years ago". And it made me uneasy. It made me wonder what the fuck I am chasing because as sure as I sit here, I wouldn't want anything to do with any of those lifestyles. Phil has it pretty good in that he gets to travel the world and be a good role model - I like that part. Still, being on the road all of the time and training legs after an International flight where food was sparse... he can have it. Not interested.

For the average person who has an interest in bodybuilding it's a good film. Could have been longer. Would have been nice to see some other pros involved like Dexter Jackson, Flex Lewis and Shawn Rhoden just to name a few.

Also, from what I've heard Kai has a condo somewhere else in new york but keeps his apartment in the projects for his painting and has used it in other films to show what it was like for him as a young bodybuilder trying to make it.

Ben is a smart guy but I think that his scientific knowledge gets in his head and makes him think that makes him a better bodybuilder than everyone else on the Olympia stage. I liken this to personal trainers with bachelors in exercise science or kinesiology. Most of these guys think they are going to reinvent the wheel and be big names someday. While that's nice you have a lot of knowledge, nobody gives a shit.

Btw met him at a GNC...nobody came he was sitting by himself so I got to shoot the sh*t with him for 45 minutes, seemed like a good guy and he didnt exactly sing the praises of the bber lifestyle.
