  • Snoring can increase your Hemoglobin & Hematocrit

I know Skip has had some blood issues he has been dealing with and I thought this video was very relevant to the topic. The physician in the video discusses how snoring can cause and increase in your hemoglobin & hematocrit. This was very interesting to me as I have never heard this as a cause for thickening of the blood.

    Start watching at 6 minutes.

I have heard this with sleep apnea. I assume there is a connection between snoring and sleep apnea here in some way.

I have not watched the video yet but this makes sense because this is the same reason that hemoglobin and hematocrit are higher in people who live at higher elevations. When you live at a higher elevation or if you have sleep apnea, your body needs to adjust the blood to be more efficient at getting oxygen when oxygen concentrations are lower.
