  • help with late night diet

Hey guys, so training and nutrition have become to go real well again after a long layoff, except for one thing....

    Late night eating.

So I eat pretty clean all day long, but every night after 9pm I'm eating garbage, nachos, pizza and ice cream, etc.. And I really need help because it is what is holding me back I know it.

And I know the most common advice is probably just don't so it, but I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this or has any tips or pointers.

Thanks everyone, I truly appreciate it.

OK i maybe talking out of my ass here but one question how do you know if its the reason that is holding you back? Without knowing what yer goals are or what your exact diet or even when you work out time wise is, it is hard to tell you any thing other than dont eat that stuff. But if it is a once and a while thing it could be ok, if yer trying to gain weight id say not the greatest food sources but could help with adding Cals. if yer trying to lean out just need to remember no carbs after 5 unless you are working out at that time the few carbs after workout is ok. It all depends on what your goals are and what you are trying to achieve, and how bad you really want it. And just remember that your human and we all have our flaws and issues that we gots to work out. Again this might be me talking out my ass.

I think Dante recommended drinking a big ol' protein shake before giving in to cravings. This way you'll be fuller and eat less of the snacks

          You're not wrong lol

Babygetoboy, this was me, and you know what I did? Just look at my sig. I just stopped doing it. It sucks for a week, cause you get in a habit, but after that you just don't eat it. And it gets easier every week.

The cravings and whatever people around you are doing is part of the problem. So I had asked this as well in the summer? Answer was to Drink a protein shake, with lots of ice, a little lemon and water. And I think Trucelt called me a pussy and to stop putting shit in my mouth. That's it. Helped immensely.

Do you keep these types of food in your house? If so, see below. If you are going out to buy this late at night, that's another story.

I used to have a problem with eating the wrong things for my goals at night. Simply put, my discipline is weakest at night.

To remedy this, I quit keeping foods in the house that are not OK to eat (no junk or over-processed foods), and most of what I do have requires some prep/cooking. (Easy to do when you live alone or with a partner who has similar eating habits, which I realize is not everyone's situation.) When late night comes, I fill up with a big protein shake, almonds and also sometimes meat if I am still wanting. Follow all that up with a big glass of water.

So, get the crap out of the house. Fill up on protein and hydrate, as the others have also recommended.

You could always reduce/cut out calories early in the day too since you have these cravings at night, workout in the PM and use this as a post workout meal...

Getting cravings out of the way though is important as you don't want them to control you.
