  • Cannonball Grips

Just wondering what everyone thinks of these, if you've used them at all. Do they work well for grip? How about forearm size?

And while I'm at it, what about these guys?

I made a pair of these bad boys. You can use baseballs or softballs. Use an eye bolt, drill a hold and secure it firmly. Then get a Carabiner clip it on the eye, clip that on to a small chain, and then you can loop that onto a power rack.

As for the other one you might be able to use PVC pipe, but I would think you would want to spray on a coating with some texture so you don't slip off.

Another creative way to build grip strength is to screw a bolt (the bigger the size the more difficult) into a block of wood (the more dense the wood the more difficult) with a nut driver, then unscrew it out. We used to do this for strength training in college for hockey.

Put the block in a vice in a position you can comfortably get at it and...get at it.

Actually there's a simpler way to that that doesn't require you to build one or buy one.

Some rope cable attachments have big round or cilindrical rubber ends. You can grab those and do your curls. I used to do a lot of reverse-curls and hammers before I had access to grip4orce and fat gripz.

But the best way to train grip IMO is grab the heaviest DB/ load you DL 1rm in a rack pull from the knee, lift it and try to hold it at the top for as long as you can and squeeze the handle as hard as you can.

I was thinking that exact thing with some PVC

          What about effectiveness though?
