  • DC alternative

Hi guys, first off a big thank you to all the brains and long time poster's of intensemuscle. Your knowledge has helped alot more people then you think, though this thread is not about kissing ass.

What this thread is about is about an alternative training method/philosophy to DC training. I have trialled DC and I do love it, it is does exactly what it is supposed to. Though this type of training is not for everyone. So if you have any other great training method's please take a minute to share on your thought's.

For me, the reason why DC isn't for me is simple. It is too Taxing on my system. I am not elite and have never claimed to be, but with my employment (club security, meaning night work) and the biggest factor - high intense cardio (fight training) I find that that I have absolutely nothing left in me and pretty much just die when I get time off. I did notice great gains in DC though.

Now a little about me, I am 28 6'0" and (currently 85kg - 6 months off training, down from 92kg due to injury/break up and complete loss of motivation). Favourite excercises are Deadlifts and Squats, but love any compound - willing to trial most programs as long as it has these movements. The reason is because most of my strength is upper body (weak part is Chest/Bi, strong is back/Tri) due to training younger years solely on top body through fear of putting my lower back out (slight scoliosis due to hip alignment - one hip sits higher and slightly twisted) though I realised that deadlifts were more beneficial then detrimental as it strengthens everything up.

Long post as I have tried to be as informative about where I am at the moment. I have looked at Mehdi's 5x5 and prefer a full body targeted workout. Thanks once again guys, I have learnt more from this forum then I did in paying thousand's of dollars for a personal training qualification.

    Much love
    Kuni

Yeah I can't do DC or any HIT training, I don't have my rest and nutrition levels up to par. Check out 5/3/1, he has so many different routines/splits and it's one of the more athlete friendly programs I've seen.

Conjugate system or 5/3/1 with the Periodization Bible template would be my recommendations for alternatives.

Another vote for 5/3/1 with the accessory component that fits your needs.

awesome thanks for the replies. Seems like most here really like the powerlifting option. In training like the 5/3/1 how do you feel about growth symmetry as it is all compound work, but no direct work for arm's, calfs and only deads for back... Do you feel everything still get's hit enough for good growth?

You're misinformed. Invest the 40 bucks and buy his books. You have 4 core exercises and than its really whatever you want. My split is bench, another press, a horizontal back exercise, trap work, and one or two things for triceps. If I want to do abs I do, calves I can, or if I don't want to do shit I can do that too.

I've had very good luck with WS4SB as well as 5/3/1 with the periodization bible myself. I can't say enough good things about both.

I've been looking at Layne Norton's power/hypertrophy program, but don't know enough about it yet to have an opinion yet.
You're perfect, yes it's true. But without me...you're only you.

well razorcuts uht method is a very good routine. I did it for a long long time with great results. It is heavily based on dc routine but not as intense, with no rest pause. Basically its set up a upper/lower split were each mucsle group is hit twice a week. With a m/t/th/f schedule.

Here you can read about it her http://www.professionalmuscle.com/fo...-training.html
I like to take biceps and have it on leg days like dantes dc split.
