  • SERIOUS problem with glute size

    hey

i've been growing good for the past year: i've gained about 22 pounds mostly muscle. but I have a big, serious problem. my ass is freakishly overgrown, it's fucking huge. it completely destroys my physique. the problem is, i really love heavy deadlifts and wide squats, but it seems i have to leave them completely out and switch to straight-leg dl's, low-stance hack squats, front squats etc. if i want to have a pleasing physique...

have you guys ever had the same problem?

    SB,

Yes, I had that "problem." Are you a competitive BB'er?

I have this problem. I'm fixing it with lots of ham string isolation exercises and all my squatting/leg pressing i done with a close stance and low foot placement.

      It seems to be working.

Might as well add to the problem that op is having....

My thighs start chafing whenever my squat starts to progress...

no, i'm not competitive yet. i need a hell of a lot more mass to step on stage.
did you change something in your training to get over this problem?

glad to know i'm not alone with this

If you need to add "a hell of alot more mass", could it be that your other body parts are just under developed compared to your glutes?

Yes, I did change training, but only after I knew this to be a problem after stepping on stage in contest condition so I didn't mistake fat for muscle mass.

You may have no problem muscularly, but simply be a guy with a somewhat gynoid fat distribution.

I'd not jump the gun on this, but consider what steel has said first and foremost.

i know i should focus on building the rest of my body, especially my lower back and hams, but are there actually big heavy exercises that i can do for those without growing the glutes?

i really hope it's fat. i'm gonna keep bulking for a few months and then i have a big long diet. i hope that shrinks the ass away. if not, i have to train around it.

Focus on exercises that don't depend so much on glutes, do a search, you'll find plenty, BUT, like Homon said, you need to be sure this is a problem first....

If you tighten your glutes up you should be able to tell whether you have a good amount of fat on them or not....at least to get a feeling of where you may be at...I have a big ass too, always have, but it has shrunk considerably during my prep.
