I would stay away from rice cakes if I were you. The GI rating on them is off the charts, and akin to eating multiple cups of sugar. Just stick with a post-workout drink like the blend at trueprotein for far better results. You don't eat white bread do you? Then why eat rice cakes? What really happened to Abe Lincoln - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XQtzryVP1BA

In my opiniuon, rice cakes are OK PW,but a quicker digesting item would be dextrose.
As far as the GI goes,I beleive it`s overated and as long as you don`t take in more carbs than you need in a day, you`re OK.
I know guy`s who eat rice cakes and other high GI carbs pre-contest ,and they get shredded to the max,as long as they don`t exceed their carb total for the day!The Phoenix Rising

Dude ,you should be eating starchy carbs post-workout such as yams, white rice, white potatoes, etc. Dextrose,Tang instant breakfast drink powder ,Gatorade pwder ,etc. etc.
Veggies ain`t gonna` cut it,unless they are of the starchy variety.
What exactly do you eat PW,other than rice cakes? The Phoenix Rising

i have a 50 gram protein shake with 10grams of l-glutamine 5 min after my workout. my dextrose is on the way so i will add 50 grams to my postworkout shake. about 30 min after that i have 2 or 3 chicken breats with about half a cup of cottage cheese with salsa in it. with about 1 cup of rice and 1 cup of vegetables. the vegetables are a mix of brocolli, carrots, colliflower.

That`s good for PW,but wait about 90 minutes or so to eat as your shake will still be digesting and the amount of food in your second PW meal will lead to digestive overload.
In other words, space out the two PW meals a bit farther apart for best results.
A 50 gram shake ,then 2-3 chicken breasts with the rest of your solid food is a lot to digest in such a short period of time.(30 minutes)
I`m all for eating big to get big but not so soon after tha shake.
Just my 2cc`s,good luck bro!The Phoenix Rising

i agree totally with ski here, but u have to experiment on ur own with foods to see if they work for u or not...i ate 1/2 a dozen rickes with jam pw after every session during my last pre-contest diet and it did me ok...not everyone can do that though, so i suggest u see how it goes for u...
