  • Former Mr. Universe turns 100

A former Mr. Universe who has just turned 100 said Sunday that happiness and a life without tensions are the key to his longevity.

I can't believe they couldn't bother to get a photo of him back in contest shape. Here's something off Wikipedia (may be deleted shortly)

Great post. I always am interested in the history of the sport, whether it is training information or the people that went before us.

And he was 4'11.....that's insane. If the key to longevity is no tension or stress, I guess I'll be saying my farewells rather soon....lol

This is so cool! He hails from the same part of the country as me, Comilla. In his time it was part of India. Now its part of Bangladesh! I feel so proud right about now )

If your not ripping a tendon your not working the muscle to its fullest capacity!

I just kinda feel if the weight wasn't so heavy, I could lift it:

I have the height thing going for me...but with the whole tension and stress thing, looks like I better make my time count

Thanks for posting this Agi, very cool to read about the history of bodybuilding.

I'm guessing media sources will be running with this story and declaring that perhaps they have been wrong about bodybuilding being detrimental to one's health... I'll just sit here and wait... and wait... and wait...

Good post. And yes, not even the video had any images of him back in his day.

                      "Pocket Hercules", nice.

                        On the stress...

                        Panic attacks!

No offense to any shorter folks on here, but 4'11" is fucking tiny. Holy shit. He could have 14 inch arms and they would be massive.

Very true. I'm 6'5" and it's tough to fill out longer limbs.
