  • Latest TEAM SKIP Experiment Results

Been meaning to get this posted so I apologize for the delay. I have been MAD busy and finally remembered to do this.

The details of the latest TEAM SKIP experiment are actually quite simple:

I wanted to see if not using solid protein sources (chicken breast, beef, etc.) in the day to day diet was just as effective as having all protein come from protein drinks like TEAM SKIP protein from TrueProtein.com. Of course, we were tracking body fat/body weight changes, hunger, strength, energy, etc..

Clients were allowed solid protein sources only during their Skipload window on their Skipload day.

Instead of me giving the results, so far (there are still 4 weeks remaining in the experiment), I figured I would let the clients post up their results and opinions so far and answer questions as to how they feel during this experiment.

All of the clients involved in this experiment have my permission to post here if they want to.

        I'll comment first I guess

So far in 6 weeks I have dropped from a fat 266 to a less fat 251 while continuing to make strength gains in my workouts every time (with a few exceptions related to simply burning out on something). Waist is down about an inch and a half.

The first 2 weeks were a little hard because I love steak, and when going out with friends I would get jealous of their meals while I just ate a plate of broccoli... but now I don't really miss solid protein at all. The meals are fast, CHEAP, and easy to take a full days worth of food with you in a small cooler.

Surprisingly I haven't really had any issues with hunger, because I am still eating pretty much whenever I start to feel hungry - but that part of the diet is beyond the experiment.

For the record I have been using Cytosport whey from Costco for most meals, and just started using Carinvor (it was free) to get some new flavor in the day.

        Happy to answer any questions...

Ill be the first to say. I'm loving it, no time in the kitchen and easy to fit in with my fulltime work and school schedule.

I started at around 188 and this morning before I began to refeed weighed in at 168.8.

Energy levels are great and up until this week my lifts were going up every week. We just dropped calories a bit so this week some lifts went up a little but most stayed the same. So I'm very happy with that.

Another thing to add is that college eats up all my paychecks so this was doine with recession whey myself.

Edit: Aah Aaron yout beat me to it lol. Which only reminded me. In the first week I did have a dream of chicken flavored whey!

We were probably typing at the same time

Funny you should mention that - I had a few dreams that I was eating steak or potato chips, then I would wake up thinking "Oh shit... Skip is gonna be pissed!"

This is very interesting. Obviously I am not surprised by the weight loss, but the strength gains do surprise me. I can't wait to see the final outcome.

Weight loss is one thing, but what about body fat loss and/or overall body composition changes? I assume since there's a SkipLoad that everyone involved in the experiment is on your diet Skip?

Speaking for myself - I am looking at the fact that strength is increasing, arm size is not changing, and waist size is decreasing, along with visibly increased definition to indicate fat loss rather than simply "weight loss".

                      Pretty awesome experiment...

I can't wait for more people to chime in. @ PTAaron, I use the same protein from Costco. About 80 servings for $40, not bad and the taste is decent. When I first stated getting it a few months ago, it was only $33 though...then $36...now $40. Hopefully they stop raising prices.

Likewise, I have clearly become more defined and vascular.

Interesting I actually thought based on skips videos about him taking in different carb sources that the experiment would be about using any carb source no matter what it is during the week ( minus this skipload day of course ).

None the less this is very interesting, look forward to reading more results from everyone.

Quick question. Did any of you guys tried the same kind of diet/training but with solid protein sources (or 50% solid 50% liquid) so we can compare results?

Thanks for all the input given so far

Well, every other one of his clients does at least 50% solid 50% liquid in their meals.. So this was more of an experiment seeing if there was anything detrimental to having 100% liquid protein vs solid protein.

From the results people are having with leaning up easier and still gaining strength it is showing that there are no real negative results from doing a 100% liquid protein diet (with solid carb and fat sources possibly).
