Why is this even called warrior? A warrior is ready to die for an ideal, not for a frantic pathetic pseudo-barbarian narcissistic display. Pathetic to the square.

When I think of warrior I think of indians, knights and warrior monks and they are quiet. Yes well whatever I know this discussion is just for laugh, so sorry for derailing :-)

Actually, Capt. Serious , he talks in the first video about being a warrior in your life - actively engaging in it and fighting to make the most of the short opportunity each one of us has in this life. If you think about it, there are MANY people out there who are simply bystanders in life when they would rather be more actively engaged.

(Maybe you don't recall / know that the Ultimate Warrior was a WWF wrestler back in the day?...)

I think his character is friggin' hilarious and he actually seems like he's trying to do something with his fame in spreading a message that he feels is a positive one. I could be wrong, but that's my take on it.

I'm intrigued: Do you feel he is being disrespectful in some way, given how you conceive a warrior should behave?...

Hello Capt Serious here to save the day! ;-)

If he is using his professionally forced upon him persona as a vehicle of change, fine I might have missed the self-distancing. In that case I applaud such an esoteric goal.

I never watched WWF as I was (thankfully?) shielded from any such influences.

How a warrior should behave? Hmmm. It's more that he is behaving like what the vast demographic has of an inner picture of a warrior (a frantic lunatic with a gun/Hollywood barbarian with a sword) rather than the stoic, cold and calculated protector which is the more traditional form in my mind. He doesn't look ready to die for an ideal unless that ideal is that people notice him and adore his little ego. Reminds me of the movie, the wrestler, which I couldn't stand for long.

Ah, yes, this makes sense to me now. Thanks for the clarification. If I didn't know him from the WWF, I'd probably not be as entertained by his rantings. I've also seen interviews with him and it seems pretty clear this is a character he's using for entertainment.

I suspect that inner child (and meathead) in me just doesn't want to let go of the how strangely engaging I find his character... He's really not meant to be taken tooo seriously, IMO, but I just perused through some of his vid's and he does seem to be trying to send a message. (He's got one of the most maniacal wrestling characters ever as the medium through which he can broadcast, so I suspect if he tried to fit himself into another, even if his real, personality, he'd not broadcast nearly as far, if at all...)

I find it entertaining but there is still some truth in owning your own life today.

Scott, I think all of that technical writing at MuscleMag is getting to your head. Maybe it's time for a vacation lol :plane:

I don't see myself in any kind of chains, my friend. Fun as in enjoyment and metal as in iron. What more fun than seeing the fruits of your labor? I think we can all agree that we love the sport of physical culture? Or you don't have fun?

sounds like you believe in fairey tales. few of the "warriors" ive met (ie infantry grunts or even boxers/mma fighters)were quiet, contmplative or ready to die for an idea, paycheck maybe but idea no. you need to get out more.....or just lighten up a little. sounds like the guy just has a passion for life to me:poking:
