  • Curious - I wonder who.......

...... Squats with something under their heels. I just saw this advice given in another thread and wondered how many of you do this with either a plate, board or whatever. I am not looking to debate whether it is right or wrong as much as I want to know what YOUR reasons are for not using something under your heals or for using something under your heals.

Please be sure and vote in the poll.

    Thanks,

Every other squat day I will put 10 pound plates under my heels.

I just feel it more in my quads with the plates.....I use the plates for front squats too

I started w/ 2.5's and have now worked my way up to the 100's...

Seriously - I don't recall reading about anyone with monstrous legs who used plates. The biomechanics of raising the heel is unmistakeable, but I'm not sure I want to be worrying about all that when I've got a quarter ton on my back, blood pressure 3 x normal and feel like I'm about to shit my pants...

I've always squated with heels on the floor as well. I believe years ago I tried it with 10 lb plates under my heals but wasn't comfortable. My legs have grown alot with my heals flat so I've gotta stick with it.

I've tried squating with plates under my heels but I just wasn't comfortable with it not to mention that I felt it put a lot of strain on my knees.

squat with a block of wood under my heels.

Would prefer to squat fkat-footed but Im tall and I find I can keep my form better with heels elevated.

Yes it is a distraction when setting up with a heavy weight and having to get in position but I have squatted 10 reps with 6 plates with heels up and never had an accident (yet.......)

Use the same block for front squats but much less weight.
