  • Precontest Squats

    I am following a program similar to the one attributed to Phil Hernon at PM. Warm ups one working set multiple exercises and hit the body twice a week.

    Here is my delima. My gym has no Hack Squat Machine. Do I squat every week. I had been alternating squat one week Deads the other. But the only really good leg work outs I get are when I squat. I am 9 weeks out from contest and down to around 75 carbs ed. 60 pw.

    its tuff to stay strong with those cabs HUH? Squats suck on low carbs

      squats are tough enough without being carb depleted; good luck brotha

          I think KR was squating every other week as he came closer to the show. I'll pull out my book to see if I have it written down. He's out of town for the weekend so if I can't find it we'll get him to let you know what he did.

          What other types of leg equipment do you have access to? Leg press, front squat, sissy squat? You said you don't have a hack squat, but do you have another machine that mimics it? Maybe a horizontal hack machine??

              My gym has a smith, leg press and 2 leg ext. But one only goes to 200lbs and Even after squatting I can rep out on it. It does suck-Other than missing that stuff we have everything else. The sad part is this gym has the most hardcore attitude in the area-this is where all the Big Dogs go.

                the great ones learn to adapt! try a front squat or standing lunges mmoving out at a 45<.. incorpprate bro..

                    Yes I WAS squatting eow but recently switched it back to every week as I have always done in the past. It's the only way to maintain decent leg size. I say suck it up yes even on low-carb days. What I do switch up is I go heavy 1 week moderate the next.
