  • Strain or whatever it is!!!!

    Hey Guys.

    Went to a workout,did 2 sets for biceps,2nd set heard a really UGLY NOISE,like I tore or strained my long head of my biceps,sat in pain a few min,now I am back home,can hardly move my right arm,I really hope it is not severe,after all I have a show in 18 days.

    Should I keep the place warm or should I use ice?
    It has never happened to me before,hope someone can provide me with an answer.
    My guess would be it is a strain.

    Its possible you have a deep strain, is there any blood under the skin?, keep iceing it as much as possible, I have seen some good muscle tears in biceps that are cut and you can see some of the tears if they are big enough...

      you can't see anything,no blood,no evidence at all.
      Should I just ice it for awhile?

          First aid for all pulls and strains, just remember RICE

          R- rest
          I- ice (20 mins per hour if possible)
          C- compression (an ace bandage wrap)
          E- elevation (keep it above your heart)

          This will help reduce swelling and inflamation. After 48 hours you can alternate ice and heat to help increase blood flow.

              Been icing it on and off for the last two hours.
              It damn hurts now,but I am expecting it to deteriorate(pain)in the next day or two.

                Get am MRI. I had a similar problem with a bicep a few years ago doing chins. I got an MRI and it told me that it was not a tendon.

                    UPDATE

                    I did an Ultrasound couple hours ago.
                    Here is what he saw:

                    Wide partial tears with severe tendon changes in the Biceps.

                    To make a long story short he told me that he is less worried about my partial tears recovery wise(of course he doesn't know I suppose to be on stage in 16 days).he is much more worried with my tendon situation.
                    However,he is not an orthopaedist and he told me I need to see one,he also hopes I won't need a surgery cause of the tendon situation.
                    I really hope I can see an orthopaedist tomorrow morning and he can evaluate it.

                    generally speaking my arm is feeling better ,my movement is better,of course I can't think of lifting anything yet,but less pain and more flexibility.

                    I am also going to try do some cardio in 30min and will do legs tomorrow(Curls,extension ,calves and maybe leg press without using the handle with my right hand).

                    I am going to do everything I can in order to make it,the rest is not up to me....

                      thats all you can do FM....try to work round it the best you can but don't risk further, possibly permanent injury just to make this show! I know it's depressing but in the long run it's best to take care of the injury now.

                        FM Keep in mind the elastic band theory with muscles. DO NOT DO EXERCISES THAT INVOLVE YOUR BI'S. Look at muscles like this. If you get an elastice with a tear in it, you keep stretching it, and stretching it, eventually the tear gets bigger and bigger till SNAP it breaks. Keep that in mind bro. Good luck

                          Thx Bros.

                          Well my wish is to be able to pose mid next week(in 4-5 days) and to be able to do light chest/delts/triceps movements by the end of next week(all machine work,no D/B or barbell involved).

                          I am not going to do back/biceps for a long time,I know that,so no Back/Biceps till the show and I guess a few weeks after.
                          I am 2 weeks out from tomorrow and either way the last week was depletion,so yes I will lose 1-2 back workouts,but I do hope I will be able to get to the show and be a bit less than 100%.
                          As I said I am doing everything I can in order to make it(treatments wise) and the rest is not in my hands.
