  • Spironolactone

how in the hell does this help hair loss? I just got some Spironolactone 2% in a dropper along with some minoxidil 5% / azelaic 5% spray. they said a few drops on the head for the Spironolactone

Isnt that the same as aladacton?

    now I am really lost

Spironolactone is a potent anti-androgen and it is effective applied topically. It successfully competes with dihydrotestosterone (DHT) for the receptor site on the hair follicles. Within the skin on which it is applied it also inhibits the formation of testosterone and converts the existing testosterone in the skin to an estrogen.

Some more to mess with Pumped's head:

A potassium sparing diuretic that acts by antagonism of aldosterone in the distal renal tubules. It is used mainly in the treatment of refractory edema in patients with congestive heart failure, nephrotic syndrome, or hepatic cirrhosis. Its effects on the endocrine system are utilized in the treatments of hirsutism and acne but they can lead to adverse effects...

Spiro taken orally for more than a couple of days (diuretic use) will cause some serious anti-androgenic side effects. These same effects will not be realized if used topically. I make my own 5% spiro cream combining crushed spiro tabs, Dermovan cream and a little isopropyl alcohol. I've been using this nightly for a couple of years along with 5% minoxidil and nizoral EOD and find that it has helped somewhat with slowing loss although significant regrowth is unlikely. Apply minoxidil first, wait 15 minutes and then apply spiro cream. I use on both hairline and crown. Realize that this makes your hair into a sloppy gook so I only use before bed and wash in the morning.
