  • The long awaited Skip version of the weekend...

First, I want to let everyone know that I appreciate the support, the offers to hunt down any judges for whatever reason and all of the other things that have been offered to sooth me. lol However, I think you will be surprised at my take on the whole thing.

Before I get into the weekend I gotta admit that I don't like my pics being all over the fucking boards as soon as I get back. The few pics that were posted here are fine because a good friend of mine took them with the intention of posting them here. I don't know where the others have come from as that one that was supposed to be posted on MM was from the night show and no pictures were supposed to be taken at the night show because their was a professional photographer doing the shots for all competitors. If it was somone I know, I still would have appreciated that they weren't posted without my permission - especially at MM where I don't get to very often.

This is the most important part and NOT because any of the judges are here at IM or not. I didn't get shafted at all by the any of the judges that I am aware of. I did not see or feel anything political took place in at least my class as I didn't pay any attention to any other class. I got fair call outs (2nd call out) and was beaten by a veteran that was requalifying for nationals and the other guy I am not sure about as I haven't seen him before. I am going out on a limb here and will say that the top three were PROBABLY only a point or two away from each other. If any of the judges want to comment on this, please do and if I am wrong, I am wrong. I admit that I was disappointed with landing in 3rd place AGAIN this year. Who wouldn't be. I knew that I had improved on everything - conditioning, color, presentation, EVERYTHING. I did come in lighter but I doubt that anyone could tell after seeing my condition. I will put up one or two more shot from the back but hell, they might already be posted somewhere from the looks of it. *sigh*

To all that were there and have comments, I appreciate it. I would have spoken with the judges afterwards but I was in pretty bad shape the entire day. I pushed the envelope with a few things and was having problems with slightly blurred vision on and off and I had slept for almost 4 hours between prejudging and the night show. I was exhausted and figured that I KNEW I would get to talk to at least 3 of you judges at the gym. ; )
I THINK I have Island Girl figured out for sure and I think Crimson Ghost knows Island Girl better than he and they are letting on but I can't be sure.

I have no idea what I am going to do as of now. I don't want to compete again any time soon and probably not next year, either. I need size and I am tired of a 4-6 month offseason and then start prepping again only to make very little changes in my size. I really need to take a year or so and add some size and enjoy being a bit healthier than I am when I prep. Hopefully, I won't get sick this time around. I feel pretty good so far.

Thanks again for all of your support but I blame no one. I did everything I could to be my best and I WAS. I was simply beaten - that's it.

Well Skip, I saw your pics and have read on various message boards about the situation. I don't know you or your history but having been in a couple of contests I can honestly say I can relate.

Unfortunately there are so many things that are out of a competitors control that competiting is very frustrating. Things like "issues" with judging consistency, political placing, genetics, varying levels of competition and just plain bad things happening to your body at contest time. So many things, out of your control, directly or indirectly affect your placement.

With that said, I think you said it best. "I did everything I could to be my best and I WAS."

That's the real bottom line. Are you happy with how you looked and performed that day? If so, the placing, although not what you wanted, is secondary.

FWIW, I thought you looked exceptional and would be proud to have your physique.

Best of luck in what the future brings you. You've got a fantastic support system here and that's something to smile about.

No, you know what? I jumped the gun and figured it was someone in particular (without mentioning names) so it isn't an issue, bro. I am still a bit off base with the whole thing and really need a few days for it all to sink in.

I love what I do and I live for prepping. Well, I live for the 139 days of it and I HATE the day of the show, win, lose or draw. I just look at all of the shit I have put in my body for the past 5 months, the money, the missed birthdays, fathers days, etc., and just wonder if it is all worth it........

            Of course it is.

I am sick - just like the rest of you.

I look forward to my offseason and growing like silverback and the rest of the those crazy fuckers. I just need all of the gear to trickle out for a nice little rest before the baby is born in another 2 months and I will tape my balls to the wall for the ride that is ahead.

Well I feel better now having heard Skip's side of the story.

My blood was boiling when I heard he got ripped off....good to know it was very close and not political.

                      Great job Skip,

Glad to see you're taking it in stride Skip.

You looked awesome and there is no doubt in my mind that you KNOW what you're doing. I'd def. recommend you to anyone needing help with precontest prep.

It took me awhile but I know who Island girl is. I don't think I told her about this site. Maybe her and her husband know about this site and come here too. Just in case you don't know who I am, Island Girl, I am Scarlett's husband. Glad to see you here.

Anyway, I hope Skip is feeling better. I think you already know what you should do (rest and take a year off, add some more size)...you said it already. I think that if you had come and talked to the judges they would have told you the same thing. You obviously don't need to work on symmetry or conditioning. I'm not saying you're small either, that was the only thing I saw that you could have possibly lacked in: size.

You showed that you were a great sport, even when the sound guy couldn't get your music playing and even when you weren't feeling all that great. Good job...can't wait to see you up on stage again.

good job skip. i love your positive outlook on things even though they didn't turn out the way you wanted. the other two guys on stage with you do appear a little larger than you but i gotta say you're conditioning was amazing. especially the legs. take some time off like you said and put on some more size and i'm sure you'll rock the next time you feel like stepping on stage. we'll all be rootin for ya.
