  • Training while sick

I've been pretty sick the last week or so with bad sinus congestion and a cough. Whenever I cough my head feels like it's gonna explode. I'm making a dr's appt tommorrow because the OTC stuff isn't touching it.

Do you take the time off at the gym when your sick or work through it? Last week I actually had good workouts and probably felt the best while I was at the gym. I'm wondering if I'm delaying getting better by not getting the extra rest.

I usually take the extra time off to rest, but of course, that depends on the severity of the cold/congestion, etc. This could be one, two, or three days off just to give my body time to "fight" off the virus.

Hope you feel better soon, bro...

Can't be for sure on this Pumped, but I believe in a Biochem class years ago I was taught that histamine is released when we are sick, and this acts as a vasodilator....could help explain your experience. Maybe some adrenalin is released also(?).

I've worked out through some bad illnesses and had great training sessions, but felt worse about 1 hour after. I'd suggest taking the time off and letting your bodies immune system repair the damage from the virus. Otherwise you may just prolong the sickness. Good luck MM! Hope you feel better soon!

Here's what I use as a guideline for working out when sick. If I can go to work, I workout - not with as much weight but still go through the motions.

If it's bad enough that I have to stay at home in bed, then rest it is!

Some good rules guys. Normally I do what Lats does, if I work then I go to the gym otherwise stay home.

All last week I worked and went to the gym, but over the weekend the headaches and nausea got worse.

I went to the dr. this afternoon and she called is sinusitis. she gave me augmentin and said it should clear me up within 5 days. I skipped the gym tonight and am taking tommorrow off from work to get some extra rest and an additional day of meds.

Sinusitis is kinda hard to get rid of. Actually any kind of sinus infection or ear infection is tough. If you are willing to experiment I have a good plan that works like a dream. Of course, your MD won't like it-because stuff like this would hurt his/her income. I have lots of experience with this. Very simple.

Get a bottle of 3% Hydrogen Peroxide (h2o2) , an eye dropper (clean it and sterilize it with h202) and a small glas-shot glass is great.

Take your shot glass, fill it half way with water. Fill the remaining shot glass with 3% h202.

Fill up the eye dropper with contents from the shot glass.

Lay down on the couch, and fill up each nostril with the concoction.

May burn a little, but if ya can handle deep squats it is like child's play. Do it 2-4 times, each nostril.

Viola!!! The virus/bacteria is oxidized, no more problem!!

I have done this with many friends over the years with outstanding success,

My best friend called me about a year ago-we were supposed to meet for dinner. He was all messed up with an ear infection. He was even experiencing vertigo because it was so bad. He had been to the doc the day before, wasn't getting any relief. I told him to throw the meds away, the cure was on its way.
I did the same process as described above...you should have seen how his ear canals erupted like a volcano as the peroxide oxidized the infection!!
We did it in each ear twice...he could not believe it. Totally cleared up-immediately. Just like turning a light switch on and off, it was that dramatic. Vertigo gone, stuffiness gone, hearing was fine....all in the matter of a few seconds, and about a cost of 2 cents. Now he preaches peroxide like I do.

I use peroxide intravenously with UBI-which I wrote about a good bit at MC-as a preventative. Despite using immune suppressors such as gear, an average diet, etc. my total sick days in the past 4 years have been......

                            none.

                            Hydrogen peroxide.....the medicle miracle.

FYI......if your snot is yellow or green you probably do have a sinus infection. If snot is clear, no sinus infection.
