  • any vets with experince......

    Training women...... My gf is starting to get serious about wanting to get into shape but she just WONT EAT... i mean her food choices arent bad she is eating clean but it needs to be more consistent, and she just keeps saying she doesnt have a stomach for it or she isnt hungry. I konw this is one of the main reasons why her bodyfat is high. I am thinking of putting her on a low carb moderate fat high protein diet..... with cardio 4-5times a week and training 2-3. Any suggestions ??

    you could start by getting her to eat smaller portions more frequently (5-6 times per day)
    raise her water intake
    after a few weeks it becomes habit

      u have to coax her into it, not throw her into it. start by taking her to the gym when u are not training and walk her through everything. find out what she like to do and what she doesnt. of course at first she is going to be really soer, so she wont like any of it, so take it easy on her.

      my girl just wont eat protein, and very picky about other stuff, it takes time to find out what she will tolarate, just remember she is not as gung ho as we are, so keep in foods she likes. i have my girl taking Beverly Liver tabs with each meal. every 4 tabs is 8 grams protein, so that bumps her up 50grams a day.

        Thanks for the quick replies i apprecaite it........ ive actually worked out with her for the last month or so not consistent enough but she has the form down on most things and was doing good. Only problem was our time conflicts and she isnt really ready to go off on her own so we gotta figure that part out. I totally agree witht he eating seems like women are picky eaters shit if you tell me it has protien in it its mine lol But 5days cardio and 2-3days training shoudl be enough dont you think? with a good diet as well. Its just crazy how she isnt a bad eater she doenst eat junk but her eating so inconsistently makes her metobolism all messed up im sure.

          And in the past she has taken all those fat burners here and there..... none really doing to much since all the pieces of the puzzle werent there to make it really work. Should she be taking any supps or just let her get some results natural first?

            If one thing is consistent with her diet, be sure she eats a good breakfast. Also, the water intake was a great suggestion.

              Yea breakfast is the hardest for her she is alwasy running late and doesnt have have a stomach for anything.... i need to get a hold of TPC and get some different flavorings then chocolate i dont mind it much but she wasnt to big on it lol

                Protien == I have found that I actually like Myoplex Lite and Protein Diet bars. They are 1/2 the calories, fat, carbs, etc. than the bars you guys usually eat. There's lots of different flavors to try. If you can, get her to start out with 1 a day.....1/2 in the am and 1/2 in the afternoon.
                This not only gets her more protein but teaches her to eat extra meals.

                Right now I'm trying to fit a protein shake into my day. It's not easy to start a new habit. TrueProtein is one of the only kinds I've been able to stomach.

                Remind yourself that change & starting habits take time. Take what she is eating & divide it up. She'll gradually eat a little more because she will start to get hungry in a few days.

                No, women in general are NOT pickey eaters. We're just constantly told to go on this diet or that diet to stay thin. Those diets are really bad. I personally have never done one, but I have never eaten much either.

                  thanks krl ...she is getting better and yoru right it takes time, i told her not to worry about training being so consistent at the moment as much as get your diet down pat and worry about that most. When you can eat 5-6meals a day consistently you will see results. The traiing and carido is the easy part imo ... any other tips supps, diet tips whatever keep me postede

                    if she has time to get in there that much, that would be ideal... BUT, u gotta remember she is not gung ho like we are. start her off slow, 3 days per week followed by cardio on those days. gradually get her in there more, dont burn her out at the beginning. as she sees results she will listen more and be more willing to get in there/ and eat better. just remember to be pateint with her. if u force it, it will backfire on u and she will getted mad at u pestering her and eat all kinds of SHIT food that she normally doesnt eat, just cause she is mad at u and knows what u would say about it! (yea, speaking from experience).

                    dont put her on a diet, just make it a point to tell her when she eats something healthy that she can have that whenever she wants. start by adding snacks, one my girl does is an apple w/ pb and she takes 12g pro from the beef liver tabs. its fast and convienent.

                    my girl cannot eat/drink protein bars/shakes. the only thing she will eat is those protein chips from metrx, but i think they are discontinued now.

                      thats a very good point BB i have already been in big fights about this with her in the past this is are 3rd go around for her wanting to get in shape lol thats why im approaching it this time totally differently. And your right when she starts seeing some results she will be more eager to learn more and do the things i advise. But man is it frustrating for someone to give you all the pieces to the puzzle but you dont want to use them lol I realy wish i had someone helping me like this when i first starting training, which she would see it like that lol. Thanks for everyones posts any other suggestion let me know and ill keep you guys posted. She has alot of potential so should have some good pics to post in sometime

                        Tyson,

                        Another thing to do that will help tremendously is keep a log book. Have a log book for her exercises; take measurements and write down poundages for each set this way she will be able to see increases on paper with each passing week.

                        Preplan her diet for the day or for the week. Write it all down on paper and be specific. Then just prepare all the food for the week on Sunday. After that it is as easy as grab n' go.

                          Thanks GetnBigr..... the log book was part of the plan i use one and i know how key it is... the cooking ahead time is ruff becuase that what i do but she would look at it as left overs and it being gross after a few days lol So many prepare 2days advance is a good idea. One big problem so far is that i can not get her to take any oils for shit, she will have a good eating day with high protiern very low carb but she just wont take in fats like olive and flax oil. Any solutions to this problem? If she takes pills she will have to take shit loads i assume which she wont either. hit me back

                              olive oil, flax oil..... good forms of efa's.... its hard to get those from foods besides fish and if your gonna do a low carb diet you should have moderate fat intake i believe. But they do have pills like fish oil caps or flax caps but youd have to take a shit load of themlol
