  • I dont understand...

I dont understand how all you guys are complaining about not being able to eat enough food. I usually eat a regimented set meal plan every day, but today while i was working on a new one i just let myself eat as i was hungry and tried to keep the cals down. i did not gorge myself at any meal. i always had that hungry but satisfied feeling after every meal. And i am still hungry as i type this. I wanted to keep cals around 3500 since it was a training day. granted it was only 1 set of 20 rep squats followed by 1 RP set of stiff legs for 15. and 3 sets of ab and calf work. here is what i had today.

7am- 8 oz 93%+ lean ground beef, 1 whole egg plus 3 whites.

10am- protein shake: 2 scoops beverly muscle provider, 1 scoop 100% egg, 6 frozen peach slices, 2 tbs. natty pb, ice

1pm- 8 oz cooked chicken, 1/2 bag success brown rice(a little over 1 cup), 1 medium granny smith apple.

330pm(pre workout)- 8 oz chicken, 1/2 box Zaterans red beans and rice, 6 ultra 40 liver tabs, 6 mass aminos

    workout 5-600pm

    6pm nLarge shake from prolab

    7pm- 8oz chicken, other half of brown rice(about a cup), asparagus, 6 ultra 40, 6 mass aminos1

    8:30pm- 7 oz chicken, 6 ultra 40, 4 mass aminos

10pm- 8 oz eye of round steak, asparagus, 1 cup cottage cheese w/ 2 tbs. sugar free, low cal strawberry jelly(i love that)

    total cals:4669
    pro-564g/51%
    carbs-322g/26%
    fat-117g/24%

Ultra 40, has 12g protein and B-12 in 6 tabs., 6 aminos are 7.5 grams pro.

And i am still hungry!! i will prob wait till 11-1130 to eat though.

Looks pretty good man. I would think most guys could eat something close to that. The shakes and PB will help bump up the cals for sure.

What would we do without shakes?? lol.

      BB-

I think you'll find that most guys that are having trouble eating enough food are just sick and tired of eating the same thing day in and day out. I'm sure if they could eat ice cream or pizza they wouldn't have any trouble. lol!!

I do eat the same thing day in and day out, i like it that way! less to worry about. And even if they did their cals in from pizza and stuff like that, the gains still wouldnt be there cause the not much nutritional value to that crap. Besides, i thought the premice of DC eating is get in the protien, then everything else is fair game till 6 or 7?

And one more thing, i bet they all stuff themselves with huge meals, and then when its time eat again they are still full from the last feeding. I bet if they backed off total cals per meal by 200-300 and ate 2 more meals they would have no problem getting it down.

it would be interesting to know how much you weigh and to see if you could keep that calorie level up on a daily basis without complaining about having to eat that much. if i ate 3500 cals a day in the offseason id never gain any size. its not eating 6000-7000 calories a day thats hard its having to eat it every day for months.

            Byrd,

I'm with hryder. Not sure what you're saying, but I *think* you're missing the point. The point is not to keep the cals down, its to eat like an animal!

3500kcal / day for you is cake - that's probably not even a caloric excess and you're also just a week or two post-competition. 2 weeks after a show, a 98lb female BB'er can eat 3500kcal (if she really was dieted).

Eating 6k kcal / day, every damn day for months on end is harder than any contest diet I've ever done, IMHO.

Eating 5-6000 kcals a day is a frickin job all its own. I feel bloated 24/7 and probably look it. But it makes my training 10 times better!

ill agree with randy that at this point the contest diet is a lot easier than when i was eating in the offseason. i can handle the starvation of low carbs but after about two months of stuffing my face last fall i was so tired of food just looking at that damn hamburger helper i had to eat everyday made me want to puke.

Byrd - how many kcal did you put down on a daily basis (when bulking) over the past year?...

I weigh about 210 right now, was 234 at around 12-13% at 5'7 before starting my diet. I put on weight really easy, but the fat comes too. I have to eat alot of vegtables to balance it out. I cant find my bulk diet from before the show, lost it in the move when i bought a house.

Here is what i am about do. It worked well for me last year and kept me around 12-13% while gaining. I got up to 234 from 215. This run through i have added more fats in with each meal. the totals are 4173 cals, 355 carbs(29%), 427 pro(44%), 120 fat(28%). It is very basic, but i can eat way too much if dont stay structured.

1-10 egg whites, 3 0z shrimp(or 20gram protein shake), 1cup mixed veggies and 1 cup green beans. 1 tbs flaxolive or canola oil.

2-Metrx shake or similar, 1cupGB/! cup mixed, 1 tbs oil

                            3-6oz chicken, 1cup green bean(GB)and 1 cup mixed, 1 tbs oil

                            4- same as #2

                            5-Same as #3

6-preworkout-1/2 serve nLarge, 1 scoop 20 gram whey

                            7 post-1 serve n large

                            8- Same as #2
