  • Some Protein Shake Formula Help

    Okay last time i ordered from tpc, I ordered a shake like this:

    40% wpi (ion or MF)
    20% calcium caseinate
    20% micellar casein
    20% hydrolyzed whey concentrate

    for a post work out and MRP all around shake, but this time im thinking of ordering that for just my MRP, and a separate formula for a post workout, soooo in my post workout shake i need
    creatine
    glutamine peptides
    BCAAs? do they really help?
    dextrose
    and protein dumbasses lol, should i just get whey concentrate?

    Here's what i do for my postworkout shake...and it seems to be working pretty well...I order all of my proteins separately so that I can be very precise with the ratio's ...Right now my postworkout mix is:

    1 scoop Hydro Whey (High grade)
    3 scoops WPI
    1 scoop Maltodextrin
    15grams L-glutamine
    all mixed together in a 32oz gatorade (I like the blue frost flavor...LOL)

    The hydro whey has super fast absorption but it also tastes like complete shit so any more than 25% of that one in the mix is gonna make it hard to choke down...That's the ratio Dante and tpc recommend on their site too so I think I'm on the right track....

      rick, i would do exactly what FH said, this is what dante and i do as well. get them separatly, you can fine tune your shakes alot better this way. nothing is worse than having a 10lbs batch of something you decided needs to be different. and sometimes your protein and carb intake varies postwork (if you are going to eat some solid food along with the shake, etc).

      i would order the creatine and bcaa's separately. and mix them accordingly.

      as for the carbs, i personally like a 50/50 mix of maltodextrin and dextrose postwork out.

      for protein, i use a mix of 65% wpi, 20% micellar, and 15% glut peptides postwork out(i think rugbythug uses something similar to this as well, if i remember correctly).

      FH is right the hydro whey high grade along with the hydro casein taste like absolute shit. similar to drinking battery acid from a car battery, mmm mmm good. first time i took hydro casein straight up by itself, i spit that stuff up in the sink.

        I understand but the only time im gonna take the creatine is post workout, isnt that what ur supposed to do if your taking it long term??? but does my MRP shake look good?

            how do u measure or know what is in a scoop? i would like to order my protein this way, but i figure it would be too complicatewd to measure out. like the dextrose i bought and never used cause i got pissed off trying to figure out the amount to use for the right number of carbs!!

              a scoop is usually a 70cc scoop, which come with most brand name proteins. a 1/3 cup is pretty much the same as a 70 cc scoop. for protein will give you roughly 25-30 grams per scoop and for dex/malto/fruc a 70cc scoop or 1/3 cup will give you 50 grams carbs per scoop.

                  more opinion on the PWO shake, i would rather have my creatine, glutamine, BCAAs, and fast absorbing whey in one shake than having to mix it up and mess with all that shit

                    I am using this combo I made from TP:
                    33% whey isolate crossflow microfiltration

                    33% micellar casein

                    17% egg white protein

                    17% soy protein

                    this is for shakes during the day or at night, and I use the whey isolate cross. micro by itself only with my flavored oats for postworkout

                      so if i am getting a post wo shake, what would be the best quickest acting protein to use with dextrose, creatine, glutamine peptides, and what should the ratios be?

                        use the whey isolate cross microfiltation, it is the fastest absorbing and highest quallity, thats why I take only that kind for my post workout shake. What I do is buy two different kinds of protein- one for postworkouts only(unflavored), and another type of protein (the combo I mentioned above) to take during the day or at night as a meal.

                          yeah i think it would be good to add in another fast acting whey like WPI, and since im putting in creatine, glutamine peps, and dextrose what should my ratios be?

                              what I do is take around 50-60gm protein post workout. 100 carbs-33gm sugar 66gm Complex Carbs (oats), but I'm dieiting right now so if your not you could get by with more like 50gm of sugar post workout. I also take 10gm creatine, 5gm before I workout and 5 after and 10gm glutamine postworkout also.
