Chemically speaking, I don't know, but - just guessing - if the seal of the bottle went bad, then the water absorbing properties of the propylene glycol might be reduced (b/c moisture has entered into the bottle).
Also, it contains ethanol, which (along with anything else that's volatile / could evaporate off) could be lost if heat or time damages the bottle.
You might be able to tell if the pump isn't working correctly (isn't sealed to pull up contents when you pump the top) whether the plastic parts of the bottle might have cracked in a way you can't see.
TLDR; So, if you can pump it - go for it! LOL

Life's journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a pristine, well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, used up, worn out, and shouting, "Holy #$&^%$^... What a ride!!!"

I know this is an old post, but I’m new to the boards, so I thought I would give my input. For my show in August, I used a bottle that had been sitting in my cabinet since 2017, and it definitely worked!
