    The amount of heat required to raise the temperature of 1 kg of water 1 degree C.


    Caloric Intakes listed should allow a 1-2 lb weight loss per week:

    For an adult an intake of ~ 10 kcal/lb body mass should work.

    10 kcal/lb intake X body weight/mass (lb.) = kcalories/day to lose weight


    Examples
    10 X 150 lbs. = 1500 kcal./day
    10 X 200 lbs. = 2000 kcal./day
