  • Your Opinions on Social Media

I want your opinions on what it is you look for and click on when it comes to anything related to training, diet, etc.. Do you prefer videos, posts, pics, logs, etc?

I also want to know what social media outlets you like the most in relation to training, diet, etc..

The reason I am asking this is because I can post a meme with a catchy phrase and 10k people will view it in 5 days. If I post something related to an article or a blog post, etc., it gets only a fraction of the attention. Pics will always get a lot of attention so I even wonder if my neglecting IG and not using it as much as I do FB and Twitter, might be hurting my reach.

    Thoughts?

I know kids are but what about the industry? I see a lot of people on there from the industry but I am not convinced it is bigger than FB or Twitter. And it is a pain in the ass to post the same shit to 3 different media sites. I have an account and I use it but I don't put a lot of time into it like I do my TEAM SKIP FB page or Twitter.

        Your Opinions on Social Media

If you post on Instagram you can link it to Facebook. Before you post anything on it you have the option of sharing it on Facebook.

^ just checked and you can also link it to twitter. It looks like you can do everything from Instagram.

On Facebook what catches my eye are nutritional or precontest articles. Podcast and video blogs as well.

Things I can learn from. I don't care to much about ab selfies or lifting videos unless of course I'm learning something.

But Skip, those kids are the industry now, bwahahaha

I kid. I hope they are not where the industry ends up in the next few years, but they seem to be getting the more attention at expos and events like Matt Porter wrote about a while back: http://www.elitefts.com/news/matt-po...-the-industry/

I'm 24 and to be honest, within my generation, instagram is starting to become bigger than Facebook and possibly twitter. I know a lot of people my age are getting away from Facebook because it is no longer cool. I mostly stay away from that crap but all of my buddies mostly just use twitter and instagram anymore. It might have something to do with our generational ADD or some shit but I'm not sure. Just my opinion though.

My biggest issue with Facebook is that, at least on my feed, it turned into semi-youtube-9gag-reddit with all the fucking sharing of (usually old) videos/memes/worthless updates.

You could of course argue that the problem lies with my "friends" that share all the bullshit... but still.

I prefer instagram, but don't expect people to follow you if you only post duckface selfies. You need ass pics Skip. Lots of em.

I feel industry is using instagram more and more... I've seen a lot of people post up little snip its from articles or a training video of video log and then say to click the link in their profile to read the full article or watch the video. So essentially they update their instagram accounts frequently with whatever article they are posting about. Correct me if I am wrong, but at least recently, on an iphone websites and "links" posted in comments or a description of a pic were not clickable, which is why people were using the website posted on their profile page.

I have facebook but use it only to keep in touch with friends that i dont see that often who dont live in this country.

I hate everything about instagram. Starting from the hashtags(#fitgirls # bodybuilding... you've seen them before..) to the fitness girls who are like "OMG LOOK AT MY BICEPSSSS" while posting softcore porn.

And this was my concern with IG to begin with: it is only for pics, basically. I can't post an article or a link to a blog or anything else and even if I could, I think that people on IG are there for pics, not for reading. Am I right or no?

When you guys are saying that FB isn't popular anymore and that sort of thing, do you mean among your friends or do you mean that you don't think it is popular in relation to the industry of bodybuilding, training info, nutrition info, etc.? I am asking because if it isn't important for keeping in touch with friends, I don't really care as much as if you feel that you prefer to get your training and nutrition information from IG or other social media sites.
