This month we will get a sneak peak into the man behind the screenname LG1! Leon, thank you so much for taking the time to be interviewed. I enjoyed your answers. Without further ado...
1. What is your name? Any nicknames?
Leon (LG are my initials)
2. Where do you live?
After emigrating from the Ukraine with my family when I was 7-years old, we made our home in NYC. Greatest city in the world
3. What do you do for a living or what are you studying?
Banker by day bodybuilding hack by night
4. Are you in a relationship? Do you have any kids?
Currently dating, no kids yet, I am behind schedule big time.
5. What three words best describe you?
Ambitious, Reliable, Dedicated
6. What 5 things would someone see when they walked in your door?
I keep things minimalist; couch, panoramic painting, coffee table, cow-hide rug and TV
7. Did you play sports in high school or college? Which one(s)?
I competed in Judo on a national and regional level from the ages of 9-18
8. Have you ever competed in BBing, PL’ing, strongman? Competition highlights?
Not yet but perhaps would want to try at some point.
9. What motivated you to start lifting? How old were you?
Arnold, Sly and JCVD as well as for Judo, I was an early teen when I started.
10. How would you describe your current training protocol?
I am a fan of Charles Poliquin and have been using his Advanced German Volume Training (AGVT) program since the Fall 2013. Recently increased my training from 3x week to 4x per week. Another one of his training protocols that I will try some time this year is the 5% solution.
11. What advice do you wish you would have received (and taken) when you started training?
WOW, there is so much I should have listened to. Eat quality food in the right proportions more frequently, train lower body (squats and deads instead of just beach muscles) and focus more on strength building than bodybuilding.
12. What goals are you working to achieve this year?
Getting leaner, stronger and more muscular… the hat-trick or tri-fecta!lol
13. How did you discover or develop your current training strategy?
I purchased Charles Poliquin’s new book and AGVT caught my eye.
14. How old were you when you first got your first car & what was it?
17, it was a Buick Century. I had it for a short time until I felt comfortable driving then went straight to a Blazer (2 door). Haven’t had an American car since then J
15. What kind of music will be on when you get into the car?
Usually listen to hip-hop, electronica and rock….pretty eclectic taste in music.
16. What famous person would you like to have dinner with?
Cameron Diaz
17. Do you have any special skills or hobbies (i.e., nunchucks, welding, guitar, etc.)?

18. What is the ONE thing you always get when you go into Sam’s or Costco?
I don’t have one near me, but when I go to my local supermarket, I always load up on Skipload foodsJ
19. Who is your favorite cartoon character?
Bugs bunny
20. What does a typical day of eating look like for you?
I typically have 6 meals per day, 3-4 are liquid.
21. How often are you late for work or school?
Almost never, it takes a lot for me to be late in general. I am always early and when I need to be casually late, I am on time.
22. Have you ever had two dates in one night?
On more than one occasion, it’s important to be able to multi-task and prioritize in life and work lol
23. What is one thing you could tell us about yourself that we would be shocked to know?
There are two movies that are tear jerkers for me lol
24. Have you had any major injuries? If yes, how did you deal with it?
I have; blown knee from Judo, full pec minor rupture from flat barbell bench, upper/lower back and Sciatica from deadlifts. I always let things heal on their own, naturally. I view surgery as the last possible option. Looking back, I would have opted to get my pec repaired via surgery… oh well.
25. If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you live?
I would like to move back to Singapore where I spent a couple of years for work. Great time and wonderful place to live. I refer to it as the Switzerland of Asia due to its central location and ease of travel
26. How many drinks does it take before you get drunk?
On an empty stomach, not much, probably two or three. I am a lightweight when it comes to drinking and I don’t like beer lol
27. Do you have any tattoos? What and Where?
Yes, on my left shoulder. It’s Kabbalah inspired.
28. Do you have any piercings? Where?
My left ear from back in high-school. That hole just won’t freaking close.lol
29. What's the first thing you notice in the opposite sex?
Face (eyes, hair, skin)
30. What is your favorite lift?
Standing overhead press
31. What personality traits do you look for in a partner?
Honesty, loyalty and understanding
32. What magazine do you read most often?
I only read magazines when on vacation and it’s usually Muscular Development or MuscleMag.
33. If you could have any one superpower, what would it be?
To predict the future
34. What motivates you in life?
Trying to be a better person, being there for my family and friends
35. Graduating GPA from high school?
Can’t recall that far back lol, I did graduate in the top 50 out of a graduating class of 550+
36. If you died today, would your affairs be in order?
They would be.
37. What is your relationship with cardio? (dating, married, it’s complicated, HIIT, fasted, etc)
Fasted, currently at 4x week for 40-mins. Getting older/slower metabolism and having a desk job demands more activity from my body to shed fat

Something fitness or diet related, can’t recall…senior moment!
39. If time and money were not an issue, what would you do with your life?
Travel and philanthropy
