Just FYI, there absolutely is a correlation. And not only does that make sense, numerous studies have found that, as well.

Oh, I'm sure there is a correlation - just wanted to see the data.

I came across a few studies but it was based on self-reported party affiliation and was kept to Republican, Democrat, and Independent. What I'm going for here is a numeric score to plot where somebody lies in the political spectrum based on their answers to specific questions. What I've found sometimes is that somebody will identify with a particular party, but they don't necessarily align with that particular (generic) party's views on all things. This goes beyond the three (or rather two) party system and is based on how people feel about different issues.

Thanks everyone so far - total sample right now is 85 (not just from this site), but it's not evenly distributed between the function pairs so I'm going to continue collecting data. Starting to see somewhat of a pattern emerge, but I don't want to share yet in case that skews future responses.
