Yes you need to be very understanding on both ends, even if both of you do not workout as hard as one another...

I have to say that even if I tried to workout as hard as IH, I could NEVER EVER keep up. He is in-human in the gym. I am amazed. What is most important about the relationship is having common interests and respecting each other. Don't have to agree or always do the same things, but must respest the other's needs no matter what. Change can happen for the better when there is understanding and patience. And I definitely know about that. (IH knows what I mean.):boobies:

My wife isn't a gym rat by any means. Sometimes she thinks I'm crazy but I just remind her that I don't give her crap about weird stuff she does.

She is starting to come around though. I don't compete but I told her a few weeks ago I going to be a competitive body builder and she was okay with it. I was kidding of course, but I wanted to see her reaction.

I have to admit that for many years even though KRL was supportive, I tried to keep a separation between bodybuilding and our relationship. I saw the gym as "my world" "my escape" and was not willing to share it. She would p/u a gym membership every few years but rarely used it as it was difficult to coordinate between my gym time, her gym time, and who has the kids.
But I will say that this past year or so we have been going together and now we actaually train together and it is working very well. It's as if I've opened up a crucial part of myself to her that I always tried to protect and its expanded our relationship ten-fold!

She knows I feel that way as we've talked about it in the past. Just something that I look back thru the years and say to myself "I should have shared more with her back then".

My fiancee isnt a competitive "bodybuilder", but, he is serious about his w/o's, and has women whistling at him when he's walking on the beach. rofl!!!! He is the body type that needs a lot of recovery time, so it's not like he's spending his life in the gym.

I see it this way: some guys are "spectator nuts"--- spend their free-time w/their boys at stadium games/fights, some guys fish/camp........some on bar stools. I'd take the gym guy over any of those-- even w/all the diet crap...... lol

He puts up w/my special intrests that take our together time down a notch. Hell, if you're around each other all the time........it gets.........boring.

There must be pros and cons to working out together/at the same gym.....hey, it's all about chemistry and what you want. Gym time is individual and there is a certain respect that goes along with it.

I actually met my wife on my main board.
It started innocent enough, I had business in her part of the country, I asked her if she wanted to go to lunch. It never seemed to come together so I took a 6 hour drive to meet her. I expected a 6 on a scale of 1-10, when I opened the door, she was a 12!
We went to dinner and she had a bar and her vitamins in her purse.
We've been married over a year now.
She still gets up at 4:30 am to hit the gym when she's working, now I go with her so I don't have to after work.

YES, find a fellow gym rat.
