New 'intense' member here, returning to competition after a 2 year layoff. Currently sitting at just over 200 lbs and about 12% BF, in the middle of my offseason, I plan on competing as a middle or light heavy in 2010 - depending on where I'm sitting at come the the start of contest prep. I plan on posting progress pics from the start of contest prep, right through to competition, but that won't be for a few months yet. So I've posted some pics from my first appearance at Canadian Nationals back in '07, where I competed in the welter weight division.

Welcome to IM! How tall are you?? I only ask because I would like to compete, but at 5'11" 205 @ about 12-15% (just my best guess...could be a little more/less) I feel like I need to put on more size to be competitive."no bulking, no cutting, no bullshit. Thanks for the welcome... I'm 5'8". At 5'11", 205, 12-15% bf, you should have some decent size, it all depends on what weight category you wanna compete at. In the pics I posted, I competed as a welter weight (164lbs and under), I actually weigh 157lbs in those pics... my offseason weight for that comp was 188.KEEP BREAKIN' PLATES AND BENDIN' BARS!Comment

I was thinking light-heavy or heavy, and will probably shoot for the latter. If you want to compete as a possible middleweight at 5'8" 200lbs in the offseason I'd probably look like a bean-pole out there with the light-heavies.
Did you have a particular goal this off-season as far as weight goes? Also, is 12% usually as high as you let your BF get, or do you get a little higher at any point in the season?"no bulking, no cutting, no bullshit. Just training for being a motherfucker" -- Jim Wendler

Yeah, I never let my body fat go over 12% in the offseason... I've never been a proponent of gaining excessive amount of body fat in order to put on mass.
I'm hoping to get upto 220 by the time I have to start contest prep. If I can continue to grow into the show, then I'll compete as a light heavy, otherwise I'll compete as a middle weight.KEEP BREAKIN' PLATES AND BENDIN' BARS!Comment
