rectal bleeding after lifting?

Does this ever happen to you guys when have a really intense session like heavy leg press? I did a search here and there was one thread about a guy who had it. Lot's of web info, too.
I'm curious if the powerlifters have this problem or hemroids from straining so much. I just had a full gastric workup and see the doc tomorrow, so no worries.
Have you guys have ever experienced this? Seems pretty common if you believe the web. Any remedies you guys have come up with?

I would never consider rectal bleeding common among healthy individuals.

How much bleeding are you talking?

I get a hemorrhoid from time to time, but any significant amount of blood in the stool is considered a medical emergency.

How about this: If blood COME OUT OF YOUR ASSHOLE after you lift weights, something is wrong. Period.

Whatever you do, JM, PLEASE, no pictures.

If this is not hemorrhoids, then you should definitely make a visit to the doctor. If you're not sure, visit the doctor.

Just no pictures.

I was hoping I would not see pics when I opened this thread....but I still had to look.

But either way, it doesn't sound good.

Maybe we'd be more helpful if you posted fewer threads with the intelligence caliber of HEY GUYS I'M SHOOTING BLOOD OUT MY ASSHOLE WHEN I LIFT SHOULD I BE WORRIED?

I'm don't have the medical education Homon and Sammich has. However, I do have experience with this.

Generally, if the blood is bright red (like if you cut yourself), it is more than likely an internal hemorrhoid. Training can aggravate the hemorrhoid and cause bleeding. If the blood is dark and mixed in the stool, it could be very serious. The only way to tell for sure is to get a colonoscopy. At your age, you should be having them done regularly anyway.

Go to the doctor.

Dark blood is an upper GI bleed as it is dark from being digested. Large amount of frank blood is a lower GI bleed. Scant spotting is likely internal hemorrhoids. This is a generalization though and based on non weight lifters.

JM hasn't said what he's experiencing but these types of threads always make me laugh. If it was anything other than a drop or two on my boxers I would be at the doctor right away and not sitting at home asking you guys about it.

^^^Kinda have to agree with Adam on this one.

Just seems to be a bit late in life to start your period.

Bottom line is go to the doctor. I had the problem for many years, but was too embarrassed to go to the doctor. It took it dripping like a nose bleed before I went in. I was very stupid. Fortunately, it's nothing I have to worry about.

Good advice right here. If the blood is fresh, it's likely to be something on the surface. If it's dark red, then it's more likely to be more on the inside, which could spell problems.

Best thing is to visit the doc, just to be safe...

Do any of you bone heads know how to read? In my OP I didn't ask you for advice! I just asked had it ever happened to you before!
With all the crap we eat, drink, take, and lift it's a damn miracle we don't all have screaming hemroids! (which was the diagnosis if anybody is interested).
Sometimes being on this board is like being back in junior high. I thought we might could actually be adults here but I guess I was wrong ...
