Glutamine with or without food?

Do you take glutamine with food or on an empty stomach?

I take approx. 40-grams on the days I work out. Either all PWO or spread out in 4 10gram doses through out the day. In the am on empty stomach with BCAA, creatine, preWO w/ protein, PWO w/ Protein & carbs and pre-bed w/ protein.

Take it before my i prep my first meal in the mornign (15mins or so), also take it with my preworkout meal 1 hour or 1 hour n half pre training. I dont like taking to many things close to a workout as it may cause me stomach upset. Also take it post workout and before bed. Again all usually before food (while i prep it-10-20mins)

I know its an old thread but I dont take glutamine. The only glutamine I supplement with is the amount that is in the supplement Xtend. Glutamine has been shown to not be effective as the claims it has been given. It is not worth the money to supplement with.

Can you point me in the direction of these studies that show Glutimine not to have strong anti-catabolic effect that neutralizes the cortisol which accompanies strenuous exercise. As we know cortisol is highly catabolic. I have read that L-glutamine additionally plays an active role in recovery and healing process in reducing cortisol levels and helps with recovery. I know for ME I can tell the different in my recovery abilities when supplementing and not supplementing with L-Glutamine

Glutamine is an amino acid

Amino acids are like the building blocks of protein

So essentially you're not really "mixing" anything... but yes that's fine
