APF Seniors

Ok, if you were there spill it. I am hearing alot about the poor judging and letting high squats pass EVEN FOR THE APF. Bike Mike? What is your take? Paul?

I heard there was some problems in the deadlift regarding the bar, and mendelson getting red lighted for a good bench just because he racked it a little early even though he got lockout.

I was there as a spotter/loader on Sunday. Most of my time was spent back spotting the squats so I couldn't tell if they were high or not. There were more 1000lb + squats than I have ever seen in one meet. From what I heard at the meet the squats were a bit high for some of the guys but the judging was consistent. There were 3 dumped squats one of which I tried to catch in the crooks of my arms(800lbs). That was a little freaky, my left arm is still sore.

I spotted Big Mike on his opener and I could tell he was plenty deep on that. He shot it out of the hole like a rocket. Other than that I don't remember alot of specifics. The weights were in kilos and the meet was moving quite fast. One dude got a bloody nose and blew chunks while he was squatting. Never saw that happen before. Maybe some other people can help fill in the blanks.

Deadlifts

SOmeone put baby oil or something similar on their thighs and the shit got all over the bar. About half a dozen guys were allowed to re-take their attempts. We switched DL bars 3 times in that session .

No, it isn't legal. If they would've caught the person that did that, they would've been thrown out. It caused alot of problems.

I thought the judges would check the bar before each attempt? That is what I am use to with the ADFPA.

I think with any meet there is going to be some bumps. I thought the judging for the most part was fair. There were some gifts and some lifts that should have passed(nothing like the IPA, if you ask me).

As for the oil on the bar, I didn't notice. Hell, I never knew about it until today. I did however, pull 821 for a personal best and had no grip problems what so ever.

I think my biggest bitch would be the warm up area. Too small, too crowded and way to fuckin' HOT! Other than that I had a great ime for the most part.
