Last week prep questions

Shaving:
When is the last day you shave before the show? IE.. do you shave friday, or thursday and allow for an extra day in case of knicks, etc...
Does anyone prefer hair removal cream at this point?

Leg workout:
When do you do your last leg workout? Many articles say it takes a good 7 to 10 days for legs to get separation after the last workout. So would you work them the middle of the second week out?

Tanning:
How many days or weeks out do you stop using the tanning bed?
I know that tanning has a temporary effect of holding subQ water.
Do you switch to a sunless tanner to finish the base and then use the comp tan, or do you just wait until Friday to start the comp tan alone?

Vasodialators:
Does anyone use topicals like protan hot stuff, or do you use niacin or some other item? Would the Hot Stuff make the Comp Tan run?

Loose skin:
I am very likely to be left with some loose skin around the midsection. Aside from prep-h cream, is there anything else that can be done for this and that will not mess with the fake tan?

Oil:
I am assuming you would just use regular Pam for this (I can see butter flavor getting you EATEN backstage) as it is easy to use. Does anyone prefer another method and why?

Complex carbs for loading:
During the carb load on Thrusday and Friday, what are my options for complex carbs?
I am, unfortunately, not a fan of sweet potatos or yams, are they a must?

Diuretics:
I am not willing to use the harsh stuff like Lasix. I have some Absolute Watershed. When would I start with this to avoid rebound, Thursday morning with the increased water and through Friday, OR starting Friday with the water drop?

That's all I can think of for now. 4.5 weeks now and want to make sure I have it covered up front.

what up Ct, its good to know ur trying to do ur homework rite...

well heres my input on ur q's

shaving.. i shave my armpits, few hairs on my lower back and my glutes on wed... thurs i do my forearms and legs.. friday all i do is touch-up here and there, not much.. shave, no cream.

leg workout... last leg session for me is on sat a week out... nothing but high volume leg extensions, leg curls.... no squatting, no reason for that at that point... some guys prefer 10 days out..

tanning.... dude, use the sun... tanning beds are shit if u ask me.. sorry guys i kow alot of u do use the beds, but the sun gets the job done and gives u a more natural looking tan... plus the sun helps shed that extra water u may be holding and gives ur skin a crispier tighter look... stop tanning 4-5 days out.

vasodilators..... niacin works for me... taking it 20 min before going out on stage makes my body temp go up and it reddens almost darkens my skin more and makes those ropey veins pop out... insane look. Hot stuff is good also.

loose skin.... i dont know what to tell u here... come on bros, help out here..

oil... pam for me.

carb loading... everyone does this differently... i do mine on fri and sat morning.... potatoes and yams are not a must.. if ur lean enough, sodium is ur friend.

diuretics... they can be potentially dangerous if used incorrectly... i do not know what absolute watershed is... that must be over-the-counter... so i cannot help u here.

hope all this helps in some way... maybe some of the other bros can come in here and help out.. like i said, everyone does their own thing anyway.. good luck with ur final weeks.

Thanks man, the last week has somewhat halted my progress with the death of my father in law. A couple of thousand miles driving, living in hospital waiting rooms, not eating enough, then too much. Dehydrating, only 1 hour of cardio per day. I found out that, while chicken breasts travel well in a cooler, pre-cooked egg white do not travel worth a damn.
I am a couple of lbs heavier than last Thursday, but I was depleted as hell. I actually look a little harder with the extra 2 lbs.

I am back on track now, thankfully I've got a treadmill at home. I am eating on shcedule again and back to lifting 3 days a week.
Tanning with the sun is just not an option right now, rain, work, etc.. have not allowed me to see the sun for a while. I have prepaid tanning at my gym which I will stop a week out.
Watershed is an OTC herbal diuretic. I've done a test run with it before and it is very mild and will only make a slight difference and is potassium sparing.
I'm gonna have to judge my carb load that week as I am still a bit behind with 4-1/2 weeks to go. I'm gonna diet hard for 3 more weeks and then level out before my carb deplete.

Thanks for the info.
I don't want to wait until the last minute as I'm buying the last of my supps and my black suit this week. The blue one I've been using for pics just doesn't look right.

What do you eat for carb load? Do you start with simple and move to complex or do you do more of a 'shitload' routine?

im sorry for ur loss there CT... a death in the family can deter ur prep, and ur mind... be strong man... all bodybuilders have their mountains to climb... so what'cha gonna do?... be strong bro and stay the course..

my carbloads are pretty shitty, lol... i go by the way im looking.. if im flat friday nite, i'll start eating pasta, cookies, cans of pie filling, shit like that...

sat morning, depending on how i look i might eat at ihop or have a few slices of pizza... but thats just me...

if its ur first show and u havent experimented before with loading then stick to clean stuff.

Thanks
I did my best to stay with my diet while consoling my wife and daughter. It's really their loss as I've been married less than 2 years. I tried to keep up without being too demanding.
But everybody in their family got a kick out of torturing me with pies and cakes and breads and bad food. I think the worst I had was lean ham and some wheat thins. Other than that it was eggs, turkey, chicken breast, and green beans. I actually packed a cooler with 8-10 chicken breasts and ate them cold. Had a couple of RTD shakes, got bloated, then realized I had bought some with a little skim milk in them. After 10 weeks of no dairy, that stuff goes through you like roto rooter. Add to that the pre-cooked egg whites a couple of days old, and you are a gas factory after 2 or 3 days.
Fortunately, my wife is a fitness nut too and we hit the gym every day.
She's not so sure she wants me to do another show though, this one has made me very difficult where the food is concerned. She calls me "hamster boy" because I'm on the treadmill 1.5 - 2 hrs a day.
