Question on tattoos

I was just wandering a question for a buddy of mine who m ight want to compete. We both have quite a few tattoos and do you think that will hold him back alot? This guys a freak hes 23 and about 275 and thats after dieting for about 4 weeks now. He has one tatto on upper arm one on the left upper shoulder blade and a bunch(like me) on his calves. So just want to know what i should tell him? Thanx guys?

I think the dark tanning solutions all but make the tats disappear on stage....
But I only have a few..

right, the tanning helps alot to hide them. More importantly is the placement. Are they in such an area to cross over muscle groups therefore obscuring definition? If not then they should be fine. Now adays tattoos are generally accepted being so widespread. So in a BB contest just having it won't count against you bit if it hides definition it could be a problem.
Check the member competition pics forum, I have a couple posts in there with pics, you can see how many I have and how well they're hidden.

The only one i think for him that does cover some defintiotn is on the back of his calve but thats it

I have knocked a guy down one placing because of his tattoos. He had tattoo's on his chest and his arms which the one on his arm more definitely obsured his triceps. The calves shouldn't be a problem.

There is no place on a judge's scorecard for tatoos, but they can obscure definition. My upper left arm and delt are covered, And the striations on my left are not nearly as prominent as on the right, even though the tat itself almost disappears with the tan. I'm sure it has hurt me a time or two.

the tattoos can cause obscure the muscle,
it can also be distracting,
if it distracts from the physique,
you may end up being placed farther down
