I miss cheese.

Other than that, I have zero regrets about dropping milk. No more bloating, gas or liquid shits that it used to give me. I also dropped dairy before hiring Skip, so I wasn't coerced.

About the breast-fed children thing... let me guess: The ones that were breast fed are smarter. Yah?

Too bad we can't buy human breast milk at our local grocery store. I suppose there is a shortage of women willing to sign up for milk production...

What do you mean by that? I'm curious.
My oldest was breast fed the most and it went down from there until the last one was breast fed the least. Reason? As we had more children we found that we didn't like them as much. : ) Just kidding. It just so happened that Sissy put out less and less "lunch" as she had more kids.

The differences are so obvious, in hindsight:

The oldest has by far the least amount of ear infections (maybe only 3 or 4), runny noses, barely ever a cough, no respiratory issues worth noting.

The second oldest had quite a few ear infections, always a runny nose (seemed non-stop from 2-4 years), coughed considerably more than the older one but still no obvious issues above that.

My boy who is 3rd in the sibling food chain had one ear infection after the other, a cough so bad that he was finally diagnosed with croup (croop?) and we had about 4 or 5 SEVERE episodes that scared the shit out of us, his nose is still running and he is 6, coughes ALL THE TIME to the point that it is annoying. He and the next oldest one get colds all the time - constantly.
He also was on an inhaler when he was smaller but I can't remember the age, exactly. He also had terrible night terrors which could or could not be related but I will tell you that since not giving my kids milk anymore, the night terrors have stopped, completely. I am sure that some will say that it isn't related and that it may be a coincidence but seeing it from the vantage point that Sissy and I have, I don't buy it. I think it is absolutely related somehow. He also shits his pants if he sneaks milk or chocolate milk as I posted on previously in this thread, I think.

My youngest is only 2 and a half so other than a non-stop runny nose and cough, she isn't old enough to truly tell what her issues are, yet.

Sometimes you just can't breast feed anymore and formula certainly isn't going to "harm" children, I don't think. However, due to immune and respiratory issues it is HIGHLY recommended that you breast feed as long as possible.

Remember, too, that I am giving my advice and my opinions based on my experience with my kids (14, 8, 6, 2 years old), tons of clients over the years and my own experiences because I constantly am questioning and experimenting with things. That is just the way I work. I want to KNOW whether something works for me and why instead of just assuming something works or doesn't work. I am not saying that something works or doesn't work as much as I am saying "look at what happened to me, my clients, my kids and ALL of the people that have dropped dairy from their diets, as well. This thread is a good example. I think dreamtheater is only the 3rd person or maybe only the second that dropped dairy (or claimed to) and reported that it didn't do anything positive for them.

Yeah, it's probably just a bandwagon. *sigh*

Milk is the only dairy thing that I noticed which actually bothers me. I think it is the amount and type of sugar in it which is the problem for most people.

Yeah, it was posted on that "other" board. The xBox story....I read it. I can totally see how that could happen too, this thread I must say helped initiate my abstinance from milk.

At my school (University of South Carolina), we have a Bodybuilding club and from this club I again heard reasons as to why we should not drink mlik. We went over such points as,

"If you quit drinking milk and quit taking in dairy products, like, after a week or so you look AWESOME" - a senior trainer

"Sure, milk has calcium. But if you're looking for calcium eat green vegetables." - club president

"humans are the only mammals who are not weened off of milk after they begin to grow" - club president

I've dropped milk now to try it out...

It has been about a month now.
My gut has gone in about 4-5cm (almost 2 inches)
I look just the same and feel exactly the same...

I will continue the non milk diet for a good while to see how it turns out...

y'all should try lactose free milk. expensive ( as much for a half gallon as a gallon of regular milk costs) but to me it's worth it. no stomach distensia, bloating, gas, etc.

lactose isn't the only unlovable thing in milk.

in terms of digestion and gas, yeah it's the lactose. yogurt and cheese(i think cheese does anyway) contain some lactase (byproduct of the fermentation from bacteria), which is going to ease the digestion process (help break down the lactose).

yeah, other than the lactose in there anything else in milk that would make one bloat? I mean, I think most of us take in milk products like whey protein and caisen protein, if it is not lactose wouldn't it make sense the protein powders from milk would cause the same problems?

Part of my wife's job is that she is a lactation consultant. So I get to hear lots about the breastfeeding vs. formula.

The best way I can describe the differences to you guys on here is to think of it like the differences between consuming nothing but MRP's/protein powders or consuming nothing but lean meats/veggies/real healthy food/etc.

Obviously living off mrp's isn't going to stop positive gains and all that, but it's a bit more obvious that real food works better...

Forumula is a "generic" meal too whereas breastmilk is actually tailored for the baby's needs. don't ask exactly how, but I guess that they baby passes enzymes or something through the nipple which triggers the mom to adjust nutrients in the milk.

So I guess anther way to look at it is that you can still get gains if you follow someone else's diet plan, but you'll probably make better and faster gains if you have a plan specific for you.

Today I had a glass of milk with some cake, we had a party in Spanish class to celebrate end of exams.

Haven't had any milk (or dairy) in the past couple months. Immediatley I could feel it in my stomach as I drank it. It wasn't mental either.

Okay.

When i was a kid (5+ years ago lmao) i could have all the milk i wanted without any "noticable" problems. Then i stopped for some reason and when i came back to it i was VERY lactose intolerant. I can have pizza and choclate but a glass of milk or popcorn will give me hell.
