That's it... milk is out. I was going to get around to it, but now, I'm not buying more. Maybe that's why I have a gut at ~12% BF.

We'll see if it shrinks.

Maybe the guy in norway isn't lactose intolerant. I know that when I was drinking a lot of milk, I got fat and bloated, gassy and had the runs a lot.

There was a lot that was wrong with my diet, but without changing anything except dropping milk, my gas went down and I was less bloated. I'm still working on the bodyfat with Skip, as it's only been a few months and we're working to build muscle while dropping fat rather than an all out 100% fat loss program.

After reading through this thread, and the others linked, I decided to cut out milk (and orange juice) a few days ago. Surprisingly enough, I've already felt quite a bit better (bloated feeling gone, waist shrunk a bit, not congested anymore, and drowsiness I used to get after meals with it disappeared). Thought it would take at least a week or two to feel the effects.

Thanks for the info guys, just a pity I didn't find this before buying all that Chocolate TP.

Well I figure Ill put my 2cents in here since I just started somthing different... First off I agree with you guys about milk fucking with your stomach,, BUT.... one thing I finally figured out... It really only does that when I poor half a gallon in with a whole box of fruity pebbles...... I have actually added in 1/2 gallon of skim milk spread throughout the day and guess what... NO PROBLEMS... there is a big difference between skim milk of course and whole milk but also a difference between gulping half the jug and having 1 cup 8 times throughout the day which equals 64 grams of protein.... I don't have the bloat or stomach problems..... I know its helping as well because today I got on the scale and hit 253.... This next week I start another phase of nutrition suggested to me.... and well see how long it takes to break the 260 barrier....

KK good point

in the past I have tried a similar protocol using whole milk and I believe it works even better (as long as calories are controlled of course) because the fats in milk have anabolic properties that typical fats don't because of the presense of various growth factors bound to the fatty acids

I think this is why some nutritionists, like the Beverly people, advicate using heavy cream in their low carb shakes to keep anabolism high in the absense of carbs

what exactly is the problem with the milk, is it the lactose? Most of us use protein powders from milk, wouldn't this be considered a dairy product? If so, why doesn't it cause the same problems for people as cheese, milk, ect....

I cut milk completely out of my diet for a couple of months besides things like cheese or whatever and the other day milk was on sale for $.99/gallon. So I was like what the hell and I grabbed up 2 gallons of whole milk to use in my morning shakes. 2 cups of whole milk and some other goodies and for the next 3 days the bathroom was to say the least quite an experience. The very next day I had explosive fun in the bathroom and then I had the sharts for the next couple days and the runs to boot! I'll be refraining from drinking milk again in the future.

I never got bloated drinking milk. I used to drink it all the time when I was younger. Skim.

I quit drinking milk a while back and I have noticed that I look leaner and even feel better, I have a little bit of cheese several times a week but I dont see how it would really make a difference

There are alot of people that think dairy is not an issue for them so they don't try to drop it from their diet. Usually, these are the people that don't need to find out things for themselves, they simply believe what everyone else tells them or quietly say to themselves, "how bad can it be? I have been using it for years".

Those are the people that never really learn anything for themselves and they never truly learn how their body works because instead of trying things out, they just assume they already know how their body works. It reminds me of the college kid that because he just graduated from college he MUST have all of the answers and be an expert in his area of study.

I dont know if I can honestly say I get bloated from milk, but I get bloated from drinking sugar free soft drink. I think its the carbonated water?

Sorry to be off topic there.

I seem to look like ET as my gf says. Bit unattractive the old bloating.

Somewhere on that board (from clicking the link above) you said you can see a difference between your children who have and have not been breast-fed.

What do you mean by that? I'm curious.

you could have just quoted me, no sweat off my back. it would have sounded a little less sarcastic. i know what bloats me and what doesn't. ive dropped it before and had it in, no issues. Milk however doesn't fit in my diet, so thats why i don't drink it. Cottage cheese...no issues with or without. I don't think there was anybody else that said that tho. everybody else hopped on the bandwagon didn't they? sorry i didn't agree with you.

the only dairy thing that doesn't bother me (sharts, bloating, gas whatever) is yogurt. and that's actually got live cultures in it (good bacteria). kinda ironic, that, lol.

I had a small (10oz) tub of cottage cheese a few weeks ago and regretted it for the next 3-4 hours.

I could have, you are very right. I decided not to. You and I know EXACTLY where we stand with each other. I kept it subtle so that you got the point and so that it wouldn't side track my thread that has been viewed for almost two years, consistently. You know my sarcasm because you are sarcastic, yourself. You aren't as good at it as I am but you are young - you will get better with age.

My point is simple: You don't know the half of what you think you do. I often wonder why you come here when you have so many college professors that could give you the information that you so respect.
