The most important lesson you learned from DC
Inspired by Massive G's Dogg Pound thread...
Hopefully this will be a thread about the most important stuff in DC Training. I start: Most important thing I learned from DC training is never giving the msucle the exact same stress from time to time. That is... never same amount of reps on the same weight. |

For me, DC Training has redefined my pain thresholds and intensity in the gym.

The most important thing that i have learnt is to really listen to my body.
To keep my head in tune with my body as i lift and not go for the ego lifts you see all most everyone try in the gym. what you lift is not important its how you lift it that makes the difference. Using RP's and Windowmakers regularly will give you the size, shape and strength we all continue to look for. Infact for me at least, low volume training reminds me of why i started to train in the first place. that mixture of pain and pleasure as you push out those last few reps that you didnt think you could get. That feeling as the blood rushes into your muscles pumping them so full you think they could explode if you tensed them just once more. You have to be a little crazy to train like this but if you can do it then the rewards are there, you just need to suck it up and get it done! |

I've learned that in reality building muscle isnt that complicated. Its all about eating the right nutrients and using progressive loads on the muscle.
Oh yeah, and wearing the new DC shirts increaseing my weights by 50% ![]() |

I learned to stop being too nitpicky if at all. Overanalysis leads to second-guessing, stress, and no progress. I also learned that if you wear a DC training t-shirt your lifts go up like 50%, it's mind-boggling.

Man, I have learned so much I don't know what specifically to write?
What it has really taught me is to always bring your "A-game" to the gym. If you don't, you might as well pack your shit up and head home! |

DC had taught me so much and reinforced a lot of what I already knew. If I had to list just one thing that probably helped me the most for both nutrition and training these would be them:
1. In the offseason throw your food scale away and eat as much as you can in each meal while being wary of carb cutoffs etc... 2. The extreme stretch is EVERYTHING. If a muscle is inflexible it will not have the room needed for growth. If you want size seek strength and FLEXIBILITY!!

definitely learned how to tax the muscle to the limits, but still be able to be productive and also have pushed my pain threshold to a much higher level.

Biggest revelation for me was the eating and the slightly different take on volume.
I started like a lot of kids, doing the magazine routines like "get a chest like ronnie's in 8 weeks!!!!", Giving each bodypart it's own "day," wasting hundreds of reps on piddly-ass iso moves, and staying away from squats and deads because Bob Chick said they would hurt me. God I was such a moron. CFP was truly a kick in the nads. In a good way.

2 Things:
1. I can kick the shit out of myself and leave the gym thinking there is no way in hell I'll ever beat this and then come back 2 weeks later, push myself even harder and destroy it. My workouts just keep getting more intense. 2. I must be a little messed up in the head (more than I previously thought) because I enjoy kicking the shit out of myself to the point I'm on the ground after the quad stretch. I also tend to wake up early on leg days without even trying because I'm amped up to go after the widowmaker and push myself beyond what I think I can do. Chuckles |

I've learned so much but in terms of offseason or bulking..
While upping your weights is great, don't forget to add the weight to the plate! |

I was seriously going to go there, haha. Damn you.
Most important thing Ive learned that has been said is "Overanalysis equals paralysis". Just do it.

Nice one, this is another from Homonunculus that i realy like: "It sounds like you set a limit of 15 on the reps for your widowmaker?... 20 reps is the goal, but you do continue until you're seeing God"
