Super D I understand your point being "why take the chance"...but the point can be made for about a billion of others things

you could say "eating meat could be worse for my health than being a vegan, so why take the chance" but you'd be hard pressed to find people dropping dead from the intelligent consumption of animal products or steering clear of them just to be on the safe side

tanning could, in theory increase your chances of skin cancer, but I bet you've (collective you, not YOU necessarily) have tanned for a show

Ben, I agree and I really am not the 'anti-artificial sweetner guy' by a long shot. It is, I believe, all about making informed decisions and each individual is going to have his own opinion on what is an acceptable 'risk factor' for any of those decisions.

Oh, I train a dermatologist and his argument that tanning causes cancer is pretty convincing but as I said like most things it is all personal decisions....

I fully agree with that statement, and I want you to know I definately respect your opinion and I'm glad we disagree as it gets people thinking about stuff like this, which is good

when I'm not dieting I don't use them near as much simply because if I want my morning oatmeal to be sweet I'm gonna put some delicious honey or brown sugar in it, lol

with regards to tanning, I get heat rash pretty bad, burn pretty bad, and never get tan....so you won't catch me in a tanning bed regardless of the risk, haha

Great thread.

I was expecting Eric to say he used them that much.

when I'm in non-dieting mode I'll use a bunch of honey on anything I want sweet, or eat more fruit and things of that nature....although there is no substitute for an ice cold diet pepsi with a good warm meal

OK Ben, I'm going to give you all the proof you can handle. I dare you to do this. Go see Dr. Ming Je Huang, D.C. at the Integrative Chiropractic Clinic located at 2658 East Aurora Road Twinsburg, Ohio (330) 425-2477 When you go make sure you take samples of all the foods and supps you normally eat or drink. Now you may not be allergic to artificial sweeteners but that doesnt mean that they are safe to consume. Im not allergic to them but I still avoid them like the Plague.

and how would that provide all the proof I need, lol

if a D.C.'s tests can't prove I'm allergic, then how is he/she going to be able to prove to me they're harmful

Its just what happens. I coudlnt figure out why i kept getting sick. I talked to my uncle and some other relatives who have the same problem. So thats enough reason for me to avoid it whenever possible.

Hey Ben, yeah we went back and forth on this a few months ago which is why I didbt post more but you asked for proof so I figured I would show you some. Sorry I was in a hurry and didnt make it clear what the chiro does. He uses Applied Kinesilogy (muscle testing) to diagnose various health problems and food allergies. And he can explain why you should still avoid aspartame whether your allergic or not. BUT like Ive said before this isnt just about what people choose to put in their body. Its about the government hiding the facts from us and therefore preventing you and me and your clients and everyone else from making their own choice about what to consume. If Aspartame is truly safe then explain why the big wigs at the FDA will go to thier grave before theyll approve the use of Stevia as a food additive. All Im saying is stop letting the FDA violate my right to informed consent. This country is supposed to be a Republic not a Democracy.

I have done a lot of research on the AK and actually have done my own studies testing the various artificial sweetners- Equal, Sweet & Low, Splenda, Stevia & sugar.

Stevia was the only one that repeatedly tested positively.

Just throwing that out there as you brought up AK.

Thanks SuperD! Im going to have to try and talk my chiro into giving me some hands on training cuz I tried to do a little testing myself and couldnt get it to work. But he said its like playing a piano. You have to develop the proper touch/feel for doing it. BTW, my chiro was one of Dr. John Diamonds students.
