Talking Starting a business using True Protein

Hello gentlemen. First off i want to say that this board and its posters have been a great help to me during my journey through the Doggcrapp.

I am a young business student who is interested in starting a business selling supplements to gyms in my area. My research concluded that there is a need for these products. The customization of the protein powder is of particular interest to my potential customers.
My questions are:

1) Would this be in your opinion, a worthwhile venture?

2) Would any copyright infringement occur if I use True Protein supplements. ( I do not plan on using the True Protein name)?

3) Would it be more beneficial to sell the powder in 1 pound bags or the jugs that are shipped to me?

4) Are any discounts available for such bulk purchases or ventures?

I would like to thank the owners of this board (Dante, etc.) and all its patrons for their input, criticisms and queries. Thank you

Parker Francis

For protein I don't think so. Capped supplements on the other hand... Send Carl an email(carl@trueprotein.com) about what you are thinking of doing and the costs and all that and he will be able to give you all you need to know.

You want to worry bout something? Worry about that damn logbook. Worry about staying uninjured in your quest. Worry about not missing any meals. Worry about somehow someway making yourself the strongest bodybuilder you can become. Im not talking singles here. Im talking 9-15 reps rest paused. A brute. A behemoth. A human forklift.

My questions are:

1. What "research" did you do parker? Primary? Secondary? (Hint: As a young biz student, you need to know those two terms well. The'll also be on an exam. )
2. You mention the customization of protein powder is of interest to potential customers. How have you verified this? What is your sample size?

1) Would this be in your opinion, a worthwhile venture? Your research should tell you wheter or not if it's a worth while venture, correct? (at least give you a good indication). You have already stated that your research has indicated that your target market is interested in custom blends, correct?

2) Would any copyright infringement occur if I use True Protein supplements. ( I do not plan on using the True Protein name)?
I do not think "copyright" is the correct term here parker. If you're not using any text or logo, then there is no "copy". Perhaps patent infringement is more appropriate here regarding terminology. In reality it is not though. Nothing is patented in TP's formulae (to my knowledge). If they do not have you sign a non-disclosure agreement, you are ok to distribute according to the distributor's agreement (if one exists).

3) Would it be more beneficial to sell the powder in 1 pound bags or the jugs that are shipped to me? Your research should tell you this. Also, perhaps 5lb buckets or bags would be more saleable. Again, speaking with your target market is the best way to determine this I think.

4) Are any discounts available for such bulk purchases or ventures?
Info on this is available on a new thread in this section of the forum. CNizz posted recently.

Parker, what companies (your potential customers) may say regarding what they want in supplements is often trumped by PRICE (their cost). Everyone wants custom this and custom that, but until you talk numbers, it's all just "talk". Money talks, bull$hit walks bud.

If you haven't, try working out a forcast for potential sales, costs, profitability, etc. Excel is your friend here. Learn it, use it, love it, EXCEL!
