hello!

Hello!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hey Dante and Skip...great board... I have been a member for several years under another account...however something happened to account a while back..so I activated a new one. I know Dante from back 12-14 or so years ago...I subcribed to Hardcore Muscle...excellent bodybuilding newsletter from the early to Mid 90's on...
I have been training for 20 years and competitively bodybuilding for the last 10 years. I like using compound movements when I train..specfically the incline bench, Squat and deadlift.. I certainly hope to be able to learn and contribute what I have learned over the years.

For all who are wondering about the name on my account...5th Ave Gym was at one time probably the premier bodybuilding gym in NYC and on the east coast...it ranked right up there with Diamond gym, Strong and Shapley..etc.. During the late mid to late 80's throughout the late 90's to to 2000.. 5th Ave gym produced several IFBB pros...Bernard Sealy, Kai Greene, Orville Burke, Chris Dickerson...many natural champions...Carmi Smith, etc etc... and more than a few outstanding NPC national level athletes...the Gym has been around since 1979 on 5th Ave in Brooklyn..and prior to that it was at another location...its still a great place to train...although there are not as many bodybuilders currently training there as in the past.

again..great to be here!

5th Ave Gym---thats me in the red..along with a buddy of mine..Joe

Thanks for this post man. Because of it I discovered the 5th Ave gym today. I moved to Brooklyn about 6 months ago and have been using Equinox (barf). Finding 5th Ave gym is a saviour... I can't even go into the culture change. Getting a spot in commercial gyms like Equinox is non-existent. At 5th ave the manager ran over to help spot me on my squats and then gave me ole the thumbs up! Sorry, I'm basically advertising... but I'm excited about having a new gym.

Happy you like the gym...if you see me there...come over and say hello... I don't look like I did in the picture in my Avatar (red) but I am not that unrecognizable..hahaha! I am usually over near the squat rank... or deadlifting....

all the best.

I'm new as well, but I wanted to mention that I've been to 5th Ave Gym a few times and it was AWESOME. I only found out about it a month before I was gone for the summer, and now I'm at college in Maine. I wish I could have spent more time there while I was living in Brooklyn.
